Garner State Park -April

This blog will put us up to date. I know that they are not in order but don't know how to fix that. We arrived in Garner on Sunday April 15 and left on Friday April 20. This is the perfect time as there are not a lot of people during the week. On weekends and in the summer this is a hopping place and we like the quiet time the best. We biked and made sevral day trips. We also visitied a friend who lives near here. There is no Verizon cell service here. That took a little getting used to. There is Wi Fi at the visitor center. The park host who was working the visitor center (who was also named Susan) was the one who got me thinking about blogging. She has just retired and started full timing and has a blog. I do enjoy reading other rv blogs which gives me ideas on places to go and where to stay. After getting home and thnking about it I decided what the heck, I"ll try it. It will at least make a good journal for us.

Easter in Riverside

Back to Riverside for a weekend after getting back from California. The girls hunted easter eggs , fished and jet skied. Just relaxed for a few days.

California Trip--Kellys wedding--March

We left for California on March 20. We didnt take our trailer on this trip. We were only  gone about 10-11 days. We drove with my sister Kerry, and Regan flew out to meet us on Thursday. Santa Barbra was our destination. Thats where my neice Kelly was getting married. Our first day was a long one, we drove from Liberty tx to Tucson Az. Then we drove to Palm Springs. Made it to Santa Barbra the next day. We rented a cute little house to stay in. My Mom flew in with my other sister(Pam) and brother-in-law (Greg). She stayed with us in the house. The day after the wedding Regan,Kerry,Susan and I  drove thur the Santa Ynez valley visiting winerys. We did some wine tasting and bought a little wine. A really fun day. The next day we left and headed to tour the Hearst castle. We then left there and headed to the West Rim of the Grand Canyon to see the Skywalk. We left there and headed to Flagstaff Az.. The next day we drove to Sedonia and then on to Tombstone AZ. Walked around town and went to the OK corrral. We headed on to Las Cruces NM and spent the night. The next day we headed to Junction and stayed at Regan and Kerrys ranch for a couple of days. Then back home to Liberty. It was another fun trip.

Canton Tx---Trade Days--March

Had a couple days rest then headed to Canton Tx. Stayed Thursday thru Monday. This is an annual trip we have made for many years with family and freinds. This has gotta to be the biggest flea market in the world. It covers acres and acres. It takes a good 3 days to walk thru everything. It is always held on the previous 4 days before the first Monday of the month. We camp on the grounds which makes it nice. Put your walking shoes on if you come here. We used to go the first weekend in Feb but moved it back to March because the weather was usually pretty cold. This year we had the best weather we have had in years. Lots of fun.

Riverside in March

Between Canton and California we squeezed in a trip to Riverside, Tx..  Mike and Kristi have a lakehouse there . Its just above the north end of Lake Livingston off the Trinity River. We spent four days there. Had a great time with the grandkids and family friends.

Florida trip--February 2012

We left for Florida on Jan 30. Our plan was to be in Orlando on Feb 5. Thats when Kristi and Mike (daughter/son in law) , Carol (Mikes mother) , Mackenna ,Ashley & Sammi (our grandkids) were flying in for the week. They were all going to Disney World except for Sammi. Sammi was just 2 and we kept her during the day.  On the way we stayed in Lake Charles LA, Biloxi Ms, and Suwahnee River state Park. Near Orlando we stayed at Lake Louisa State Park. It was a great choice as only about 20 minutes from the condo the kids were staying at. After that week we headed to Wesley Chapel (near Tampa Bay) where Susan has a friend that lives there. We stayed at Hillsbough River State Park. It is another really nice florida state park. We did a lot of bike riding and walking along the river while we were there. Plenty of gators to see. We left there and went to Cedar Key Florida. Fell in love with that area. Low key and quaint and not a lot of people this time of year. Plan to go back there next winter to fish kayak and relax. From there we went to Topsail Preserve State Park near Destin . A real resort state park. Great place to ride bikes and go to the beach. We visited Fort Pickens which is about a hour and 30 minutes to the east. It is a place we would like to go back and camp next year also. Campgrounds nice and remote with the beach nearby , great bike riding areas also. When we left there we started home , stayed one night in Slidell La and got home Feb 27.  This was a trip we might start making every late Jan and Feb.
