Not much has changed

Things have slowed down at least in appearance. The bedroom is almost done with the new floor in, just a few touch ups like fixtures and trim.  In the living room the ceiling is painted and the first coat of paint on the walls. The cabinets are sitting just waiting on the granite guy. He may put the granite in Friday. Also the Tile guys are supposed to start on Monday. We leave for Canton tomorrow and will not be home till next Monday. We are glad  to get away for a few days. They still need to move the hot water heater to the garage and then put cabinets in the utility room. This should be done while we are gone.  We had to order a new faucet for the kitchen ( the other was damaged when it came in) and its supposed to be here today. Still looking for lights for the kitchen and breakfast area. Susan hopes to find some hardware for the cabinets in Canton. It looks like we are going to have pretty weather but might be a little windy.

Feb 20--- Remodel coming together

It has been a busy few days since we have been back home. We went to pick out our granite and got that accomplished. Also went back to the floor place with samples of our granite and changed the tile which actually was our original choice. Our cabinets were installed and a new door the the bedroom off the kitchen. Priming and texture has been going on also. The tile guy came out to measure and he had a few ideas on how to rearrange to floor plan. It means we need to get a left hand door for the patio. Our kitchen sink came in and we like it, so hard to know when you order off the Internet. We still have to get pendant lights for the bar and under counter lights for the cabinets. Hopefully almost thru buying stuff. Susan has been stressed about picking out tile, granite, paint, and light fixtures. I told her to leave it to me cause I don't stress but that didn't work. Anyway things are coming together.

Feb 17------A Beautiful Day at Riverside

Kenna  made this purse

Today was a nice sunny day with a little wind. The girls sewed and played outside most of the day. I was able to get a nap outside for a little while. For supper we roasted wieners over the fire and had hot dogs.Tried to get them to bed early as we were tired but that quite didn't work out.

Feb 16---------Windy at Riverside

The temperatures were not really cold today except the wind was blowing 15-20 mph and that made it chilly to be outside. Susan gave the girls their quilts (she m them) Friday night and they cuddling in them. All the kids got up early but they just watched tv. About 10:am Susan took Ashley and Mackenna to a quilt shop in Trinity. Sammi and I just hung around.Later after they got back they started sewing lessons, the girls are going to make purses. I mowed the yard because I needed something to do outside for awhile. We had plans to cook by the fire this evening but the wind was to much. We did have a fire after supper and it was nice.

Feb 15--At Riverside

Sammi & Ashley
On Wednesday we picked up Ashley from art and then met Kristi and the other two girls for supper..   Thursday morning Mike/Kristi flew out to Colorado. I had Sammi all day and Susan went to another sewing class for her new machine. I went to the girls valentine parties at school and then we headed back. The girls packed their bags for the lake, did homework, and then I took Kenna & Ashley to gymnastics. Finally home and to bed. Got up Friday morning  and took the two oldest to school. Went and bought some groceries for the lake. Got back and Susan had Sammi ready to head to the lake. Sammi played hooky and she and I headed on up. I got there and unloaded, fed Sammi, put her down for a nap, then built me a fire outside and Relaxed.

Feb 13---Decisions

Has an outdoor kitchen that I like
It has been a rainy nasty miserable few days of weather. It just seems to make you feel gloomy. It is supposed to clear up and be pretty for the next week and I can"t wait. Things are moving a little slower on the surface but a lot of things have been done to the house. The bar area is framed in. Lots of scraping and some painting of doors. Susan has finally picked out the kitchen sink and faucet. She has also decided on a color for the living room and kitchen and kitchen cabinets. She is still looking for mini pendant lights for the bar. We are going to decide on the cabinets today. The granite guy came out yesterday and checked his part out.. In the meantime we have gone to the RV show in Houston. We love to go look even though it will be probably two years before we get a new trailer. We found another trailer floorplan that we haven't seen and I like it a lot. We went to Kristi's and ate supper one night and saw the grand kids. We are going to babysit them Thursday thru Monday as Mike/Kristi are headed on a ski trip. Our plans are to take the girls up to Riverside for the weekend and take them home Monday.

Feb 8--Things are moving along

Almost all the demo is done in the house now. The part of the wall that is coming down will be the last thing. Ed (our contractor) said they will have to use jacks to support the ceiling while they build the new header. Our pocket door in the hallway was repaired . It has been years since you could use this door. We have had a couple of surprises. One was we didn't think about the floor under the bookcase not being the same as the living room. The flooring has been discontinued. We found the planks that would match but they are a little thinner, not beveled and the locking system is different. One option was to move the wall a little further but we didn't like that. Settled on bring the tile around the bar from the kitchen and continue to the door with tile in the swing area of the door. Also we were going to put a Lazy Susan cabinet in the corner of the kitchen but after measuring the layout we found there is not enough room with the dishwasher and sink on that part of the wall. Well the dishwasher is more important. The water was off all day and night as the plumbing was rearranged in the kitchen. I turned it back on this morning and no leaks. They will have to turn the water off again sometime next week when they move the hot water heater. It is nice that we have the trailer to stay in while things are going on.No comforts of living are being missed.

Feb 5--Second Phase to Start

It has been a busy week, We finally got all the furniture and junk moved out from our living room, kitchen, breakfast area and Susan's old sewing room. We are ready for the contractor to start tearing everything else up. We are moving in our trailer for all of our meals and daytime rest. We can still sleep in our bedroom at night and still have our bathrooms. Also my study and Susan's new sewing room can be used, though it could be a little noisy. Maggie is not sure whats going on as last night she had no couch to sleep on. We cooked our last meal in the kitchen. Kevin and a friend of his ate with us and they moved the couch and love seat down to Kevin's house. During this week I went and babysit grand kids one day while Kristi took Susan and Carol ( Kristi's mother in law) out for the day. We also went over one evening to look at a new house Mike/Kristi are buying  in Kingwood. Also yesterday Susan had an eye appointment to check out some lighting bolts she was having in one eye. Turned out to be a sign of aging.  It has been a warmer than normal winter and I have a hard time not hooking up and traveling somewhere. It will have to wait as we have to much going on around here. We are really looking forward to going  to Canton at the end of the month for about five or six days.

Maggie wondering where did my couch go
That bookcase will be gone
That kitchen will be gone
