June 25-29 New Braunfels

Not too crowded
d
Susan is just floating along
Maggie is relaxing
Since we had no cell phone service which also means no Internet I waited till we got home on the 29 to post anything. Really wasn't a lot because we mostly stayed on the river. We did make one trip to Camping World and to Hancock's. It did get hot in the evening time but if you were in the water it was nice.  Its funny that on Thursday evening and Friday morning the old folks were packing up to leave before the weekend. It has been a quiet week.  We are coming back here in August with a group of people and that should be fun. I probably wont post anything till July 6 as we head to Arkansas for a while.

June 24---Guadalupe river

We got up this morning and packed up. I dropped Susan off at Target and then I went to Discount tires to get new shoes put on the trailer. Kristen met Susan at Target and they did some shopping. I walked over the BMW dealership and talked with Kyle until our trailer was ready. We got on the road about 10:30 and made it to the river about 1:00.  We got a really nice shady spot on the river. During the week it is a lot less crowded. We did a little floating and cooked hot dogs for supper. We are going to be here till Friday mainly doing nothing but chilling.  We have no cell service at the campground so we have to drive a little ways to check messages.

Sunday'''June 23 Peyton"s Room

We got up this morning and just chilled for awhile.  About 8:30 we headed over to Kyle"s. He had already left to finish a pressure cleaning job that he needed to finish. All that was left was staining about 600 feet of fence. They had problems with the original stain the owner wanted and had to get a different kind. Turned out to be an all day job. Susan and Kristen started sorting clothes for Peyton. I took everything out of his room and then vacuumed the carpet. After that I hooked up the steam cleaner and cleaned it. Now I had to wait till it dried so I could start moving furniture in there. Susan and Kristen then left to go to her grandmothers to  get a bassinet and also let Susan see her quilting trailer. Evidently she has about 20 different machines and lots of stuff.   While they were gone I put together a baby crib and a rocker recliner.  I moved lots of things into Peyton's room. He has so much stuff. At least now you could walk thru the front bedroom.  They were amazed at the transformation when they got back. Susan finished hemming the curtains she made and then I hung a " Noah"s Ark " quilt Susan also made. Finally everything was about done and the room is ready. When Kyle got in we got some supper , chilled for awhile and we headed back to the trailer. We are leaving in the morning for the Guadalupe river. My pictures didn't turn out very well with my phone, don't know why I didn't use my camera.

Saturday June 22===Paint Day

Peytons room
I got up early this morning and took Maggie for a nice walk while letting my coffee make. At home my pot has a timer on it so its always ready when I get up. It was nice outside about 70 degrees. This is a big older rv park we are staying in. It is only about a half mile to Kyles. When Susan got up and ready we headed over to Kyles. Susan was going to an all day childbirth class with Kristen and Kyle had to work. That left me pretty much my own boss. Even though I am not much of a painter, my goal was to finish up Peyton's room.  All I needed to do was the doors and trim. I did the window seal and the doors first. Then I taped all the trim and floor and painted that. While I let that dry I went back to the trailer and got Maggie. I then went to Discount tires and made an appointment for Monday morning to put tires on trailer. I was hoping to get one more summer on these tires but after checking them this morning I decided to change them now. I am not going to put really expensive tires on it as I just need this year and next year. We are making plans to go to Alaska after that and I will put new really good tires on it before we head out. Anyway after that I went back and put a second coat of paint on everything. After that dryed I took all the tape off and cleaned up. It turned out pretty good. Later that evening when every one got home we headed out to eat for supper. After that we went back to the trailer and I was beat and headed to bed.

Friday June 21 Headed to Bryan TX

We got up Friday morning and loaded the trailer. I normally hook up and load the evening before we plan to leave. Didn't happen this time as we are leaving a day earlier than planned. We are going to see Kyle and Kristen for a couple of days and then head to the Guadalupe river for a week. The morning started out a little rough as I found a water leak at the old barn. Had to repair that before we left. We are staying in Texas this summer waiting on Peyton"s arrival in July{ #4 grandchild}. By the time I finished getting ready to leave I was drenched as the humidity was high. Cooled down  and took a shower. We got on the road about 10:30. It"s not a long drive and we got to the Rv park about 1:30 pm.  Turned the ac on and set up the trailer. We went over to Kyles while giving the trailer a chance to cool down some. Since it was 102 outside and we did not have any shade it was going to take a while. We came back about 3 and finished unpacking and I took a nap. About 5:30 we headed back to Kyles. Susan and Kristen started going thru some baby clothes we brought and when Kyle got home we ate some supper. Tomorrow Susan is going to a childbirth class with Kristen. Its an all day class. While Kyle is at work I may paint some trim in Peyton's room. Will try to get some pictures tomorrow.

June 12 Floating the river

I heard  " Poppa help "  several times
last stretch of float trip
We made it

We bought some tubes yesterday so we can float the river here. It was cheaper to buy tubes in San Marcos than renting tubes at the resort. The girls had never floated on a river. We could walk a trail to the far end of the park and then it was about a 20 minute float back. This was perfect for the kids.  Susan,Ashley and Sammi shared a double float. Mackenna and I had singles. I set the off first so I could follow behind them. Didn't last too long as I passed Kenna when she got against a bank. She kept getting stuck in places but we all made. On the second float Kenna went with Nana and Ashley went by herself. She did really well until the last bit when a spider fell in the tube with her. It was touch and go for a while on who was going to stay in the tube. This is really a great place for kids to learn to float. There is a nice current but the river is shallow and they could stand up if needed. After lunch Sammi went down for a nap so the big girls and I went back to the river to play. When we came back the evening showers started again. Lots of lighting and thunder. No evening float trips. We decided to go out to eat again due to the weather. Hope for better weather tomorrow.

June 10,11, Leisure Resort, Fentress TX

Ready to rock n roll
Ashly at breakfast/lunch
Sammi & Kenna
On the river
A treat after supper
Catching lightning bugs
We left Monday morning headed to the San Marcos river in Fentress Tx. It was just me and the girls on the trip up. Susan went to MD Anderson for a friends surgery and then headed up. The girls and I made one stop for lunch and then made it to the campground around 1. They sat in the truck and watched movies while I sat the trailer up. Put Sammi down for her nap and I rested and cooled off. Yep, camping in Texas in the summertime is hot, I was drenched in sweat by the time I finished setting up. Susan made it here before Sammi got up and then we headed to the river. This is really a great place for the kids. They can swim, ride bikes and go to the playground. We cooked hot dogs for supper. When it got dusky the girls caught lightning bugs. There was a lot of them. Tuesday we got up and had breakfast outside. We then headed  San Marcos to get some tubes for the river. Also Susan took the girls to a Vera Bradley outlet to get them some fashionable backpacks for school. We headed back to the trailer for lunch and thenSammi took her nap. The big girls rode their bikes and I blew up tubes . It started misting and continued all evening. Bummer for the girls. We decided to go out for supper and hope for better weather tomorrow.
