Feb 27, 2014 Great Day in Canton

I got up about 5:30 am and took Maggie for a walk. It was 25 degrees but no wind so it felt much better than yesterday.   When the sun came up it started warming up quickly. John/Judy Lovett arrived pretty early and got set up. The girls all left out to go shopping for many treasures.  Mike Templeton and his son Mike went golfing for the day. George/Delilah showed up a little later. After they got set up we took off.  The sky was blue and the sun was shining bright. We found the girls with full shopping  out on the hill. Susan bought an Armour for our guest bedroom. Should be fun figuring how to get it in the trailer to haul home. This turned out to be one of the nicest days of shopping we have ever had. Really nice weather and not many people. This will change Friday and Saturday if the weather holds. Most everyone was back at the trailers by 4 pm.  Jeff was cooking gumbo and we started a fire. We had a little wind but it quit .We had lots of good food and a evening.

Feb 26, 2014 Travel Day to Canton

We got up at 4:am this morning. We needed to meet Mike/Lavonna Templeton and Jeff/Ladonna Murphy at Moss Hill at 6:00 am. During the night a wet loud cold front had blown in. I didn't think it was too cold until I walked to the trailer and the wind and rain hit me. I scooted back in and got dressed.  I put my rain gear on and finished putting the last minute things in the truck and trailer. While the truck was warming up I noticed I had no trailer lights at all. Uh Oh, I checked and cleaned my connection but no luck. We decided to head on and meet everyone and then I would run in the middle on the way to Canton. Somewhere about 12 miles down the road all lights came on. I was glad but I now have issues to be solved. We all met and took off. The rain cleared just after Livingston , we stopped in Grovton and ate breakfast at the County CafĂ©. With our bellys full we headed on to Canton. We made it about 11:00am. We decided to put our trailers in a U position to try and block the wind. The temp was about 36. It kinda worked and we sat outside. We have a smaller group this year as we expect only three more trailers. We went to eat Mexican food for supper and when we got back everyone hit their trailers for the night. Our firepit doesn't arrive until tomorrow when George gets here. The weather is supposed to get better.

Feb 19-20 Visiting Peyton

We got up Wednesday morning and headed to Bryan. Our first stop was to drop Maggie off at Moms. We decided to leave her as she would be hard to keep from Peyton right now. We were making good time till we got stopped by a big piece of equipment hung up in a turn. I talked to one of the officers and they said it would probably be a hour before some big trucks got there to attempt going again. We had no choice but backtrack and go another way. It added about a hour to our trip. Peyton was asleep when we got there. He woke up and play time started. He is such a happy baby. He is really growing up fast. We left Thursday after lunch. We all met Kyle at the Cracker Barrel. Peyton enjoyed lunch as we dipped his pacifier in chicken dumpling gravy. We headed home and stopped to pick up Maggie. She was glad to see us. Now we are home for a few days. We are getting the trailer ready to roll again. I thought I saw moss growing on the tires as it has been sitting for four weeks.  We leave for Canton next Wednesday and come back the following Monday. Rest for one day and then its off to Florida for a month.

Feb 15 2014 A Busy Day

Its been awhile since I posted anything. We have been home now for 3 weeks and not done much. The weather has been very cold and wet and miserable. Yesterday the sun was out and it started warming up.Today has been the nicest day of the year. We need several more days of sun to start drying out where you can get around. Hopefully the worst of Ole Man Winter is behind us.  I got up early this morning and did some troubleshooting on my desktop computer to try and get it to run a little faster. Its pretty old and really doing the best it can for its age. I am not to good a computer tech so I made it worse before we got better. Decided to leave well enough alone.  As soon as the sun came up I washed both the truck and the car to get all the road grime off of it. Later  I got cleaned up then Susan and I headed to lunch to meet most of the family. Jan & Kelly are in from Switzerland so all of us that could,  met at Casa Don  for lunch. Everyone had a good time. We left there and went shopping for a new wireless printer for Susan's new laptop. She needed to upgrade her laptop for her embroidery machine so new laptop, new upgraded software for machine and now  a new printer. I call her Bernina machine the gift that just keeps on giving.  We got home in time to take alittle break before we headed to the TVE Fairgrounds for Mike Templeton's Surprise Birthday  party. He turned the big 50. There were lots of folks there and he had no idea and was surprised at the party. There was chili for supper and a DJ for music. A good time was had by all. I even stayed up past my usual bedtime .  Well, there probably will not be another blog untill we go see Peyton for a couple of days next week.
