May 24-31 Our Last Days at Home

Sunday morning we got up early and left for home. Sammi and Mike were the only two up. We got home and piddled all day. It was still too wet to mow the yard. On Tuesday we went to Dean/Pats home most of the day. Susan helped Pat due some maintenance on her Singer featherweight sewing machine. We left there that evening and went to Mackennas Band concert. This is there first year and they sounded really good. On Wednesday I was able to mow most everything except a portion of my back yard  I also moved the trailer into the front drive pointed to the highway. On Thursday we went to MD Anderson for Susan's yearly checkup. It was all good and we got out of there in record time. We stopped and ate seafood on the way home as it will be awhile before we can get it again. Friday morning we worked in the trailer loading. Friday evening we got torrential rains. I probably will not get to mow again before we leave.  Saturday morning we worked in the trailer again and then helped Kevin look for his dogs. Rommel and Max got out and were gone.  We didn't find them and no one had seen them. Kevin left his number with lots of people. Susan and I went to Kristi's to visit them and the Dougan clan. We had a good time. Just as we were getting home around 9 Kevin called and said the dogs had been found. The Howells had found them and called Hyltons store to ask  if anyone had been missing two dogs. The lady said yes and they got in touch with Kevin. We were all happy to get them back. On Sunday I did my yearly maintenance on the yard tractor mower and changed the oil in the Ranger , Monday morning Kevin and  I along with the dogs went to the deer lease to just ride around. Adam was there and we just cruised around. That evening Susan and I went to some friends for supper and got home late for me. Tuesday was just a hectic day trying to get all of our last minute things done. We have Sammi with us now and we are ready to head out in the morning.

May 20- 23 2016 Swim Meet and Getting Ready

Time is moving fast. Our departure date is June 1.  I had my annual Dr visit and everything was good except my A1c. It is a little high. I have now started a low carb diet and limit my carbs to 100  grams a day. Its tough but after two weeks I can see favorable results. I had my dental checkup and it was good but when we get back I need to be proactive and get two fillings replaced, Susan gets her annual MD Anderson visit on the 26 and we are done with doctors. We have been cleaning and loading the trailer slowly. We are pretty much ready except some clothes and stocking groceries. I had the oil ,oil filter, fuel filter and air filter changed on my truck. I also put some new back tires on it. We have had a lot of rain so its been hard keeping the yard mowed. I was able to mow my back pasture but still a little wet to mow the front. We went to a swim meet all day Saturday. All 3 girls were swimming. This was Sammis first swim meet. When you have three swimming the day seems to go a little faster. They all did well. There were almost 700 kids swimming. It actually was one the best run meets we have been to. That night we kept the girls as Mike/Kristi went out to supper and a concert.

April 27-May 1 2016 Grandkids

On Wednesday Kyle brought Peyton and Luke down. He was going to work on Kevin's car and we were watching the boys. This is the first time we have had both of them together. Talk about forces of nature,,it was like two EF 5 tornado's .   They were good but I had forgotten what abundant energy was. I wish it had been a little drier outside so they could have done more. Kerry and Mom came one day to see them and Pam came one evening. The boys had a good time, I think Maggie was glad to see them go.  They left Friday evening as Sammi arrived. She is spending the weekend with us. On Saturday morning I headed to the George R Brown Center to watch Mackenna play volleyball. It was raining so hard I decided to go back home and go on Sunday instead. O.f course by 11 it had cleared out and was sunny all day. I just hung around the house and watched movies with Sammi.  On Sunday morning Sammi and I headed to the volleyball tournament. Mackenna was playing on court 55. It took us a while to maneuver thru the crowds and find them. Lots of teams as they had 60 courts set up with games going on. Kenna finished up around 2 and I headed home for some much needed rest.
