May 20, 2017 Headed Home

It was another really nice morning . There was a slight breeze and it was nice sitting watching the sun rise. When Maggie and I took our walk we noticed there was about 10 more trailers that pulled in sometime yesterday evening. Folks here for the weekend. We looked at the weather forecast and radar, then decided that we would head home as it looks like rain was coming. We didn't get in any hurry but were still ready to leave at 9:30. We stopped and ate breakfast in Hillister (very small community) and it was really good. We could see the rain coming so we left just in time to miss it. It turned out to be a good decision as it looked on radar that the campground got 2 pretty good storms during the day. We didn't get anything at home and I even mowed the yard, actually we could use some rain.  We had a good trip, nice to be close to home as the drive is only about and hour 1/2. Our next trip will be in June. We are taking Sammi camping for a week at Double lake. We also have some friends coming to camp with us.

May 19, 2017 Computer issues and a great evening

It was a really nice morning when I got up, There was a slight breeze and it wasn't too humid. I wasted about 2 hrs tying to get my laptop or Susan's laptop to connect to my hotspot. Just no luck at all and it frustrated me.  Outside I tried to connect my ipod to my phone and couldn't do it either. I considered throwing all into the lake but I didn't. When Susan got up she could connect her laptop and ipad to her phone so it was only me that had issues.  We chilled outside and watched our neighbors load up and head home on both sides of us. They both come here several times during the year. After a late breakfast we ran to Walmart for a few things. Susan's allergies returned this morning and she didn't feel well so when we got back she laid down.  I piddled with my computer undoing the latest updates and restoring to a recovery point a couple of days ago . Nothing worked so I gave up again. Later when I was trying to connect my ipod to my phone I noticed a string of letters on my Wi-Fi password on my phone. Somehow I must have added them inadvertently. Once I put a new password in everything connected again, yes the problem was always me.  We had a really nice breeze in the evening and we sat out by the water till dark. We didn't see any gators today. Looks like rain for Saturday and Sunday so we may go home tomorrow. We will decide when we get up.

May 18, 2017 We had visitors

I slept really well last night .   I still got up about 5. The dogs and I sat outside as it was really nice. We went inside for a little while when Susan got up. While sitting in trailer Susan looked out the window and said that looks like an alligator in the water.  I went out and walked to the bulk head and sure enough it was about a 7 footer.  One of my neighbors were out and he told me there was another one around that was bigger. Sure enough while we were talking a 10 footer came cruising by us. I had brought my kayak but forgot lifejackets. Doesn't matter now as Susan will never get in the water here.  As we were sitting out our other neighbors came over and visited.  Its funny that they have stayed in many of the same places we have in New Mexico and Colorado. While we were visitng I got a call from Susans cousin Jennifer. She said that her and Bubba thought they might take a day trip and come visit us.  I gave her instructions and they came on over. We spent the day just visiting , the weather was nice with the wind blowing and we really enjoyed sitting out .The ole big alligator came back thru and listened to us for awhile.  After Jennifer and Bubba left we just sat awhile and then went in for the night .
The small one

The big one

Our government at work. This equipment has been sitiing all week. Also two big dead pines need to be cut.  I guess they are waiting for rainy weather

May 17,2017 Just Chilling

I didn't sleep well last night which is unusual for me. My back was hurting so I got up a little before 5. I took the dogs out and let them run loose for awhile as there were not any other folks up and about.  We went back in and watched a little morning news and surfed the internet. It was a cloudy morning and we didn't get much of a sunrise. The wind sure picked up during the day, glad we don't need the awning out for shade. Susan set her sewing machine up so she could do a little sewing.  I just piddled around all day.  One of our neighbors are from League City. They have been coming here for 25 years. One nice thing about our site is I can stake Maggie and Sissy out as we have lots of room. For supper we had one of my favorites, chili dogs, simple and good.

May 16, 2017 Dam B

We headed out to Dam B today, it actually is named B.A. Steinhagen. It is between Woodville and Jasper. There is one State Park and two COE parks on this lake. We are staying at Sandy Creek Park. Its only about a hour and a half drive from our house.  It was a nice drive thru East Texas. We stopped in Woodville and had lunch at a little Mexican food place. Got to the park about noon. We stayed here once before probably eight years ago. It is a nice corp park, very spacious with nice level sights and covered picnic tables. There are several waterfront sites and lots of shade. Today was a really nice day because the humidity stayed  low and we had a really nice breeze. We sat outside most of the day. We staked the dogs out on leashes as we had plenty of room. It was a really nice evening.
