Jan 30 ---First Phase Complete
It has been a hectic time.We have moved but not moved. The new sewing room is done except for door handles and the bifold door. We started movig things into there yesterday. Our contractor will not be back untill Monday. This gives us time to move and cleanup and get ready for the second round. We are going to live in the the travel trailer while the rest of the hallway, living room, kitchen and guest bedroom is being redone. Susan will be able to work in her sewing room and I can use my study and stay out of the way. Hopefully they will be done in about 6 weeks.

Jan 20---Interesting week
We have been packing up like we are moving but we are not really gone. The living room and kitchen is pretty much done except for a few things we can move on the last day. I found dishes we didn"t even know we had. We finally have moved up to a new flat screen tv for the living room. I was waiting for my 27 year old console tv to go out before I got a new one but , since it had to be moved out anyway we upgraded. No one would take a trade-in for some reason. I hated to throw it away since it still worked, luckily our contractor knew a family that could use it so they hauled it away for us.

A little fabric waiting for the next move |
It was nice to have the weekend without anyone working in the house. Susan started packing up things in her sewing room so we could move to the new sewing room when its ready. The sewing room, hallway and the entry way should be finished by next Friday. The following Monday the floor guys are going to be putting the new floor down in the sewing room. We are going with a vinyl tile which looks very close to our hardwood floors in the hallway. Our contractor is giving us a few days after the floor is installed to move all the stuff from Susan's old sewing room to the new one. After we finish that move, then we will finish moving out of the living room and kitchen and they will start working again. We probably will move into our travel trailer till the work is done since we will have no kitchen or living room.
A little more stuff waiting for a new home |

Jan 15--- Wow- A Big Start
I wasn"t planning on doing a blog everyday when we are home but yesterday our contractor Ed Scott and his two helpers started the remodeling job. They got so much done in one day that Susan thought they would be finishing much sooner than planned. Ed told her that demo is quick but things would slow down petty fast with floating taping and texturing. Even so I was impressed with how much they got done and how neat they were. It took Maggie a while to settle down with people working in the house but she finally decided it was going to be OK.

Jan 15--Home Remodeling
Its about 250 yards to my trailer from back porch. This is with my new camera zoom at 1x |
We have been really busy since we got home on the 6. The weather has been nasty , lots of rain or drizzle and cold wind except for a couple of days. We have been packing up rooms and moving furniture and throwing things away getting ready for a remodeling job. Susan is having two bedrooms combined and making that her new quilting room. Her old sewing room will become our spare bedroom. The living room, hallway, and entryway will be re textured and repainted. The kitchen will be gutted and redone. The wall between the kitchen and living room will mostly come down and be a bar separating the two rooms. The hot water heater in the utility room is being moved to garage and cabinets put in that place. All in all about two months of work This has really expanded from our original plans. Our travels this year will definitely be affected. Have already cancelled a Florida trip because we didn't think that the contractor will be finished in time. We just finished buying all our appliances and living room furniture and they will hold them and deliver when we need them. Susan just needs to pick out colors for paint, tile for kitchen and carpet for her quilting room. Sad news is I have never found my camera but good news is I have a new one. Its a Sony cybershot with a 30x optical zoom. Since we travel a lot I went to a point and shoot camera just for the ease of carrying. I just got it yesterday but so far I like it. It should be great for traveling and hunting also, if the zoom works well. Well I have rambled on enough for now. My posts will probably be sporadic until we start traveling.
This is at 30x from the same spot. I think I am going to like this camera |

Jan 2-- Cabela"s
Another chilly morning here, it was about 39 when I got up. I took Maggie for a quick walk while the coffee was making. Today we are headed to Cabela"s store in Buda TX. This is my kind of shopping. We try to come here every year after Christmas and take advantage of their sales. We didn't buy a lot but have some items stored in memory. We are also going to Bass Pro Shop and Academy. After that may come back to Cabela"s.We also made Camping World today. Really wasn't looking for anything/but still managed to spend some money before we left. We went to a RV Park near Luling on the San Marcos river to check it out. We are going o bring our grand kids here in June. This park has river frontage so the kids can swim and tube. It looks like it will be a fun place for the kids.Headed back to the RV with only one stop at HEB. Now its time to kick back and relax for the evening.
