May 19,2014 Playing with Peyton
I was sitting at the Verizon store when they opened this morning. I was out in 15 minutes with my phone working. New phones can be a pain. Not a lot to say about today other than we played with Peyton all day. He is a happy baby and really active. He can almost stand up alone, not quite there yet. We had a lot of fun with him today. We head home in the morning. Kristi leaves for Africa in 10 days so we will help keep the girls till she gets back .Then we will head out for the summer.

May 18, 2014 Headed to Bryan to see Peyton
We left Fredricksburg today and headed to Byran. We just took our time as the winds were really blowing. We stopped in Johnson City and had brunch. I stopped once in Caldwell to walk around a little and stretch my back. We made it to Byran about 3:30. I git the trailer setup and we took a little nap. About 5 we headed over to Kyles. Peyton had just went down for a nap, but he got up and played the rest of the evening. He has grown so much. I took a lot of pictures with my new phone but for some reason when I send them by email they will not open on my laptop. I also cannot download apps. Back to Verizon tomorrow.

May 17, 2014 New Phones and Car Show
We just
piddled around the trailer this morning until the Verizion store opened. Two
hours later we walked out with two new fancy phones. Now we just have to figure
out how to use them. We then met Adam
and Lori downtown. After talking a little bit, Adam and I left and went to the
car show. They really had some nice cars and the weather was great. We met the
girls back at the trailer for lunch. Next we headed to do some wine tasting. We
did two winerys . Susan and I went back to the trailer while
Adam and Lori went to trade days. That evening we went to the B&B and cooked supper. We sat on the front porch and watched the sun set. We also watched deer and waited for the pet deer to come by. She waited till we were ready to leave but finally came by to be fed and petted. All in all we had a nice day.

May 16,2014 Cell Phone Crashing
Today didn’t start out too good, I got news that my aunt had
a stroke and also the wife of one of my second cousins had a stroke. My phone
picked today to start not working. I
could text on it but not talk. I will probably have to get a new phone. How did
we ever get along before cell phones.
Adam and Lori went and climbed Enchanted Rock this morning and then met
us at the trailer for lunch. We then headed out to tour a couple of winerys. It
was a really nice day and we had a good time. After that we headed back into
town and did some shopping. We then went to a little bar and grill and had
supper. Finally we headed back to the
trailer all worn out.

May 15,2014 A CHILLY MORNING
I got up this morning and it was cold. Yep, its the middle of May and the temperature was 42. I had to turn the furnace on in the trailer. It did warm up when the sun came out and became a nice day. The wind was much calmer and I cooked breakfast outside. There is going to be a street rod show here this weekend. We sat outside and watched new arrivals with their cars. I also like watching the small planes takeing off and landing. Adam and Lori got here about 2:00 pm. We loaded up with them and headed to find their B&B. It.was about 10 miles out of town on Tivydale road. We found it and it is a nice little place. We headed to town so the girls could do some shopping. I did find a couple of places that interested me. We had a nice evening. In the morning they are going to climb Enchanted Rock. I really wanted to go but because my back is still tender I decided to pass this time.

May 14, 2014 Travel Day to Fredricksburg
I got up
early again this morning. It rained again during the night but was clear skies
and stars shining when I stepped outside.
It was quite cool for a May morning.
We just piddled around all morning picking up and getting ready to
leave. We rolled out about 11:00 am. It was a clear blue day but the winds were
really blowing. I”m glad we didn”t have to travel far. We were set up in
Ladybird Johnson Muncipal Park by 12:30. It is a nice place right beside the
little airport. My bay window faces the airstrip so I can watch planes land and
take off. It shuts down at night so there is no traffic noise. Susan saw a
place which had fire pits for sale on the way in today. We had been looking for
a small one we could carry. They had what we were looking for so we added it to our collection we carry
around on trips. The wind layed a little bit in the evening so we could have happy
hour outside. I grilled pork chops and corn
on the cob for supper. We had a nice
evening. Adam and Lori are coming
tomorrow. They are staying in a B&B near here.

May 13,2014 A little Wine Tasting
I got up this morning
about five o'clock. It had really stormed during the night but the rain was
over. The wind was still blowing hard and the temperature was about 49. It
stayed overcast with light showers most of the morning. Since outside
activities were not feasible we decided to make at least one wine tasting. We
chose Texas Hill Country Vineyard outside of Johnson City. It was a very nice
place and we bought 4 bottles of wine. We left there and drove thru Perdaneles
State Park. I had never seen the Falls with more than a trickle. While not
raging it had more water than I had seen there before. You could hear the roar
when you got out of the truck. After that we headed back to Blanco to eat at
our favorite little Mexican food place (El Puerto). It”s a mom and pop place
with great food. Headed back to the trailer to take a nap. We didn”t do much
the rest of the evening, just read and watched tv. The wind blew and we got some more light
showers. Tomorrow we move to Fredricksburg.

May 12, 2014 It"s Tough Getting Old
We had a
nice quiet day. I am still recovering from my back issues. Susan has a neck problem
flaring up. It is a nerve problem which travels up into her head. Not sure what causes it but if it continues
to reoccur she might have to get a nerve block.
We are going to get a second opinion soon. We just chilled around camp all day. I was
able to walk the park several times with no real problems. Forecast is for a
lot of rain thru tomorrow with flash floods. We may not be able to get out of
the park tomorrow as the low water bridge could be flooded. We did get some
showers during the day but the main event will be
tonight. This is a nice time to be here
as not many folks in the park during the week. There are only two other campers
in our loop. No deer have come thru but there are lots of birds and doves. Squirrel's
abound and drive Maggie crazy. She loves to chase them.

May 11, 2014 Travel Day to Blanco State Park
Site #17 |
We got on the road again today. We are at Blanco State Park.
It is a nice small state park on the Blanco River. We stayed here back In
January and loved the place. The weather is a lot nicer this time. We are going
to be here till Wednesday and then head to Fredricksburg. Adam and Lori are
meeting us there on Thursday. On Sunday we will head back toward Bryan to see
Peyton. It has been a rough month for me. My back was bad and I also had a
small kidney stone. Things are looking up as I can get around pretty good but
cant lift much. I started walking yesterday but about a half mile is all my
back will allow. I had planned to do
some kayaking here but that’s probably not going to happen. I really like making these short drives . We
stopped in Schulenburg and ate at Franks.
We just barely beat the lunch crowd. We
like stopping here because the food is good and they have plenty of parking for
RVs. We got to Blanco and was setup by 2:30.
It was a really nice evening with a good breeze. Our plans are to just
chill and not crank the truck till we move again.
