August 23- 28 Moved Kevin and Hurricanes

On Sunday Kevin and I moved the Cardinal trailer to Arp, Tx.  Kevin is supposed to start next week on a new project there. The park is just a parking lot with hookups. It does have a shower room and one washer/dryer room. Probably 20 sites. The good thing is it only takes 6 minutes to get to job site. We moved ahead of time due to future storms and just to have it already setup when needed. This will probably be an 8 month job.  We are watching 2 storms Marco and Laura, both may get us.  Marco is fizzling but Laura keeps shifting to the west.  On Monday Marco is no problem but Laura projection moving closer. I mowed everything and got prepared for a storm. We held off till Tuesday morning but after watching projections we got Mom and headed to Junction. I wanted to get ahead of all traffic and we did. Smooth trip. We got to Junction about 2;00.  We went back to town that evening and ate supper and bought a few grocerys. Regan and Kerry are in Montana but are planning to be back here in Junction Thursday night. Greg and Pam decided to ride it out at home. Kevin will go to his Moms for the storm.  It was a really nice morning Tuesday, I was surprised as it was 61 degrees when I got up, Actually kinda of cool to sit on back porch in shorts. I didnt bring any long pants as I wasn"t expecting this. It warmed up to about 93 in the evening. With low humidity it was still ok as long as you were in the shade. We didn"t do much but watch hurricane news on tv.  We did watch the deer and turkey in the morning and evenings.  Hurricane Laura got to be a pretty big storm but lucky for us she did turn north and went in near Cameron, La. I checked the Entergy power map when I got  upThursday morning and it appears we did not lose power back home.  We were right on the edge, Beaumont without power along with Kountze and Jasper along East Texas.  Regan and Kerry decided to head home to the Woodlands instead of coming here.  We decided to head home Friday morning. We got about 5 miles down the road Friday morning when I got a low tire pressure alarm. I stopped in Junction to check pressure and air up.  We found two air stations but the card readers were not working and no change for the machine. Could not get change either due to "coin shortage". Finally one station would give you an air chuck (have to show drivers license?? ) and the air was free. I was only about 1 lb low but after 30 minutes we were back on the road. I will get a battery powered air compressor to keep in Susans car.  We stopped in Kerrville and ate breakfast. From San Antonio to Houston the traffic was heavy. Several times we came to stops but when it picked back up we could never see what the problem was. We got off 10 and took 99 and then 2100 to 1960 in Huffman . Much better drive. It was an 8 1/2 hr drive with 2 stops. We dropped Mom off and then went home. We were really lucky that the storm missed us.  Now we will be getting ready to leave next Friday for Arkansas and Missouri.

August 1,2 ,3 2020 A little rain then a Hot Day and Headed Home

It was still overcast Saturday morning. Everything was still wet and damp. It rained off and on during the night. We got a few showers in the morning. The most came after I was cooking breakfast. Susan decided to sew all day today. The weather finally cleared out about 10.  I went to the store and picked up a few things. By 1:00 the heat was turning on and the first bit of humidity we have had moved in. By evening this park was as full as I have ever seen it. We stayed off the water today as the lake was a busy bee. I cooked hot dogs for supper as we just stayed in the trailer, Susan sewed and I watched tv. Tomorrow there should be a a lot of folks gone by 2:00. Sunday morning the weather was very nice about 70 when I got up.  We sat out till about 9 and then I cooked a little breakfast . We decided to take a little drive thru the countryside. When we got back the park was about half full. Around 4 we had another rainstorm blow in with lots of wind. While they need the rain around here we didn"t want it. Late that evening I started picking up things and loading in the truck. We plan on heading home tomorrow. Monday morning it was 69 when I got up. It was really nice as I finished loading the truck and hooking up the trailer. We got on the road about 8:30. We stopped at a roadside park and had brunch about 10:30. It was still pleasant outside as long as you had shade. We got home about 1:36. It was Hot and Humid here. That evening about 4 my phone went off with weather advisory about wind and rain, it was still set for Canyon Lake so they were getting the showers again.  Glad we were back home. Guess its time to catch up on my chores. We will be home all of August before being gone all of September.
A nice Sunday morning

July 30 Piddling Around

Thursday morning we decided to make a short road trip. Susan wanted to go to a quilt shop in Blanco. We decided to eat breakfast there at one of my favorite spots , The Chess Club.  As usual it was good eating. We went to the quilt shop afterwards but they didn"t have the fabric Susan was looking for. We left there and went to Canyon City to Brookshires to restock on a few things. We got back home about 12:30. We watched a movie and then both took naps. The temperature hit about 97 for a high so we headed to the water and floated a little while. It sure felt good. A lot of trailers have moved out but I expect it to fill back up tomorrow. For supper I grilled shrimp and rice and we sat out till about 8:00.  Friday morning it was a little warmer than it has been, just a slight breeze blowing. After breakfast we decided to do the dreaded chore of washing clothes. We headed to Blanco and used the laundromat there. When we finished we headed to New Braunfels to Hobby Lobby. I needed some foam to plug into the skylight in shower to keep the heat out. We came back thru River Road. There were some folks on the river tubing ( water low) but the rafting and tubing places closed.  I usually like to go to Gruene Hall during the day on Saturday and Sunday to hear the local folks play but it is closed also. None of the winerys I wanted to go to were open for tasting, a few that had outdoor patios were able to offer tasting.  I wanted to got to Enchanted Rock but they were booked thru Aug 6 ( reservations only ).  This virus has tried to screw my trip up. When we got back to the trailer we watched a movie.  A lot of trailers started moving in at check in time so I bet it will be full by dark.  We had a pretty good storm rill in with wind and lightning (much needed rain here). No cooking outside tonight.
