Friday morning Cooper and I were up at 5:00 making our first walk of the day. It was a cool morning about 51 degrees. We got the firepit going and had a nice morning. Later that morning we met Kristi and KK at the Aggie Warehouse. Its a huge building with all kinds of stuff. About 200 dollars later we left and headed back to the the trailer. We were both tired and took a nap. That evening was really nice and we sat out till dark thirty. Saturday morning we got up and headed into College Station for Mckennas ring day. We ate breakfast at a little cafe in Somerville and got to Kristis AB&B about 10:15 am. We left for the campus to park and caught a shuttle to Aggie Park. When all our group arrived we headed inside to get Mckennas ring. She was so excited. Susan and I sat in the park while the rest went to Kyle Field to get more pictures. It was just too much waking for us. We all left there and went to Coopers BBQ for lunch. after that we went home to rest awhile. That evening we went to Kenna"s condo for her ring dunking party. Lots of folks and we had a good time. I was wore out when we made it back to the trailer. It was a very good day.

October 10,2024 Lake Somerville
We headed out to Lake Somerville for six days. Our oldest grandaughter Mckenna is getting her Aggie ring on Saturday. We actually had plans to be gone on a 16 day trip but had to cancel the back end. The traffic thru Houston was heavy but moving. We stopped in Chappell Hill to eat lunch. We arrived at Yeagua Park on the lake at about 2:20 pm. When we stopped at the gate to check in I put my truck in park but the the shifter column just went free wheeling leaving me in reverse. I set my parking brake then got out of truck to figure out the problem. A park ranger truck just happened to pull up behind me. I was telling them I probably needed to back up and not block the gate. The young lady said your cable shifter probably came off, She said let me climb under your truck and check it which she did. She then said if you have some pliers I can get you going again. I gave her some and she got me going. They followed me to the campsite in case it happened again. I was able to get backed in before it came off again. Put a tie wrap on it temporarily to hold it in place. That girl is a keeper for sure. I called Kyle who lives in Bryan and he went to the auto parts store and got the little bushing and came out and replaced it. It turned out to be a pretty nice evening.

June 28-July 1 Lake Georgetown
We had a quick turnaround from Florida. We headed to Lake Georgetown with friends. We stayed at Cedar Breaks COE. Our original plan was to go to Canyon Lake. Right before we left for Florida we got a cancelation notice form the park Potters Creek. They said they had planned work to be done. Never had that happen before. We had a hard time finding spots anywhere because of the 4th, we got two spots together ar Cedar Creek. Its a nice little park but the sites are not level. They have nice covered picnic tables and some shade, our trailer had no evening shade which was a problem. It was ok untill Monday when the temps hit 102. We decided to come home Tuesday morning because of the heat. No more summer camping in Texas. We ate out for supper and had good meals. We also went to a play in an old historical theater and it was good. The campground sat on the cliff side of the lake and there was no easy entrance to the water. I'm to old to rock climb down to the water. We probably won"t return to this park.

6/19-6/24 2024 Fort Pickens
We moved to Fort Pickens which is part of the Gulf National Islands Seashore Parks. Its on the far west end of Santa Rosa island just south of Pensacola Fl. Its pretty narrow with the gulf on one side and the bay on the other. We mainly just chilled for the time we were here. We did go to my favorite seafood market Joe Pattis. I bought grouper and flounder to cook in camp. They turned out very good. We only ate out once and it was just average. Inside the park we didn"t have any crowds. If you went back to Gulf Breeze it was very crowded with lots of traffic.
as always very crowded. Overall we had a nice time.

6/16-6/19 Cedar Key
Sunday morning we left about 8:00 headed for Cedar Key. It was an easy drive with no problems. We got set up at the campground and it was hot. Not much breeze blowing. We went in to Cedar Key to just look around and see what has changed since our last visit. On our way in I saw smoke in the cedar break. The fire department truck met us going out to investigate. There was still some construction repair from the last hurricane to hit them. There were lots of people out and about. On our way back you could see there was in deed a small wildfire. Later we heard that it was started by lighting. Anyway they were able to contain it. That evening we went to a small place out of town to eat. Mostly locals and it was good. Monday we went and walked around town checking out the shops. That evening we ate at Steamers . Its on the water and was by far the best food we have had on our trip. Tuesday we went to Crystal River so Susan could go to a quilt shop which was highly rated. Cooper and I just did a little sight seeing during this time.
