June 29, 2025 A Lazy Day

It was a typical cool morning. Adams living room has big windows so you can sit, drink your coffee and watch the day unfold. It's not unusual to see deer wandering down the street and today I saw a little buck and two does.  Adam and Katy left to go on a 10 mile hike in the mountains, we chose to skip that. I brought Susan"s sewing machine and other stuff in from the trailer. She set up in the dining room table so she can sew. I did a first pass thru the trailer cleaning and sweeping. I then went and washed my truck. After I got back I reorganized everything in it because it was a mess. Sometime around 1:30 Susan wanted to go get an ice cream. Cooper had been on the couch sleeping but didn't jump up to go to the truck. I picked him up and put him on the floor and he could barely walk. Back problems are not unusual in dachshunds but Cooper is pretty young to start having them. He had been going up and down lots of stairs and running around but really nothing unusual. He just layed on the couch the rest of the day. When Adam got home he had some dog aspirin so we started him on that. Katy has a daughter that works for a vet in Craig. I plan on having him there in the morning at 8.  We just chilled the rest of the evening.  Adam has two tenants that live in the basement. They are interns for BLM.  They are gone during the week working but have the weekends off and they are here.  His house has three bedrooms in the basement , one on the main floor (that's ours) and three upstairs. There are four bathrooms scattered around. They both loved Cooper and gave him lots of attention.

June 28 ,2025 Up in the Mountains

It was a very nice morning when I got up around 42 degrees. Cooper slept in with Susan so I had a peaceful morning to myself. Susan and Cooper got up about 6:30 and Adam and Katy got up around 7.  They cooked us a great breakfast. After that we got in the truck and headed up to the mountains. We went thru a valley following the White River pretty much all the way. The valley is so pretty. We drove to 3-4  different high mountain lakes. My pictures do not do it justice. We got back home about 2.  Susan and I both took naps while Adam and Katy went fishing. They got back about 5:15. They cooked supper and had some friends over. We all had a nice time. I could get used to someone doing all the cooking.

June 27,2025 Travel Day to Meeker Colorado

This morning we loaded up and headed to Meeker Colorado.  We are going to visit Adam for about 10 days.  We stopped once in Rawlins for gas and then made a stop in Craig at Walmart.  Meeker is a small town so we stocked up on supplies at Walmart. Its probably about 50 miles to Adams from there. Meeker does have a small grocery store but prices are much higher. We rolled into Meeker about 1:30 pm.  Chester was the only one home (Adams dog). He met Cooper for the first time and they did get along.  I met Adams neighbor Mike, Im parking my trailer on part of his yard. Adam left work early and got home around 2:00 pm.  Katy, his girlfriend, got here from work about 4:pm. She brought her dog Lucy. We had quite a pack of dogs craving attention. We had a really nice supper and then sat out back visiting till I went to bed.

June 26 2025 A Good Day

It seems every morning we are at about 44 degrees when I get up. This morning there was a little more wind to go with it. Cooper and I made a short walk due to the wind.  This morning for breakfast I did biscuits in the air fryer and eggs and bacon on my gas stove outside. After breakfast we loaded up and headed up to the Snowy Mountain Range.  I figure this is probably the last time I will ever get up here again. It was just a great day, I never get tired of the views. Cooper almost caught him a marmot but was just not fast enough.  When we got back down we ate a late lunch at the Bear Trap Cafe ,again probably for the last time. We both took naps and just chilled out the rest of the night. Tomorrow we head to Meeker to spend about 10 days with Adam.

June 25 2025 A Nice Surprise

It was another cool morning about 44 degrees. I turned the heat on in the trailer and took Cooper for a walk. The trailer had warmed up nicely by the time we got back.  I'm not sure when daylight starts, its already daylight when I get up at 5:00 am.  Susan slept till about 7.  We had breakfast leftovers, scrambled eggs and sausage. My first chore for the day was to remove the stabilizer I bent yesterday. It actually came off easier than I thought it would. After that we got dressed and headed out for the day. Our first stop was the Grand Encampment Museum. This turned into a nice surprise. It was a very nice place. We watched a video about the history of this area. The main building had lots of pictures and different period pieces. On the grounds they had buildings that were moved here from around the area. It was all very interesting. You could take a guided tour of all the buildings which were furnished from the time period. We chose to just walk around and peer in thru the windows. We visited with the museum curator for awhile talking about the area. we also met a couple from Jefferson Texas. They have been coming to this area for years. When we left there we went to an antique shop and a thrift shop. Then we head to Saratoga which is about 21 miles. We visited the Hot Springs there. It's got 2 natural hot springs open to the public 24 hours a day and its free. The North Platte river runs along beside it. There were a few folks in it but most were playing in the river. The river is running pretty low.  After that we head back  and took a little nap. Susan did a little sewing. For supper we went back to my favorite cafe, the Bear Trap Cafe.  We didn't"t see any bears but as we left there was a Mule Deer Buck just walking down the road very carefree.  When we got home our little trailer park was full. Glad we got here yesterday.  We had an enjoyable day.

June 24 2025 Travel Day

It was a pretty chilly morning again with the temps around 44. it was also foggy which we haven"t seen here before.  I had loaded everything that I could yesterday so it did not take much to get going this morning. We got on the road about 8:00.  Our first stop was at the Wyoming Territorial Prison Museum.  They have a RV dump and fresh water station there. It is run on donations. After that we stopped at a Loves Truck stop and filled up with gas. We finally headed out to Encampment Wy. They have a little city park which is first come first serve. If there is not a opening we will have to backtrack to Saratoga which has a big campground on a small lake. It's not my first choice as its wide open and gravel dusty conditions.  We traveled the high plains for about 75 miles on I-80. It was an easy drive. Then we headed south to Encampment. We got there about 11:30. There was 2 open sites at the little park. It's not fancy but has electricity, water and a dump station.. They are pull thrus so easy to get in.  The ground is unlevel on the site I was in. For the first time ever I misjudged the slope. I had the trailer leveled out but when I put my first stabilizer down the trailer rolled back off the front jack, it bent my stabilizer. I then had to jack the front up manually until I could get pads back under my electric jack. Did a better job the second time. I will have to take the bent stabilizer off before leaving.  It was nice to have electricity and not have to run generator. I set the TV satellite up and we were in business. After lunch and a nap for Susan we took a little drive around. I thought about washing my truck but all the streets in this town are gravel except for the main drag. Depending on the weather we plan on going back up to the Snowy Mountain Range. It's a much shorter drive from here. For supper I did squash and chicken thighs in the air fryer. I love using the air fryer, its perfect for two people and so easy.

June 19-23 2025 BoonDocking in Wyoming

Since we are camping on Pole Mountain between Cheyenne and Laramie I just don't have good cell service.  I'm just going to combine 5 days together. One day we made a trip to the Snowy Mountain Range. I was surprised at the amount of snow still up there. All the hiking trails and campgrounds on top were closed due to snow. It made for a pretty drive. We got out a couple of times to walk around. Cooper was not a fan of the snow. We drove down the other side of the mountain to Saratoga, Riverside, and Encampment. The North Platte river runs thru these towns and it's very pretty. We ate a late lunch in Encampment at the Bear Trap Cafe. It was very good .  It was a long drive back to camp on a full belly. Most of the time we stayed in camp. Susan sewed and Cooper kept busy with the chipmunks. I hung a hummingbird feeder and they found it pretty quick. The same 3-4 came every morning and evening.. We went to Cheyenne one day. Susan went to two quilt shops and I went to Harbor Freight to get a new electric jack for the trailer. We took a chance and ate at a Mexican food place and it turned out very good.  We made a couple of more trips to Laramie for different things. I installed the new jack on the trailer. The rest of the time we drove the countryside. our plan is to leave on the 24 for Encampment. One thing I forgot to mention is wind.  A calm day was 10-15 mph. A couple of days it was 30-35 mph winds.  We got gusts up to 50 mph at times. Not conducive to sitting outside.
