July 30--its Hot

Kristi and the girls went back home today. Susan watched Peyton while I took Kristin to a doctor appointment.. When we got back Susan went back to the trailer and took a nap. After feeding Peyton and  Kristen took a nap. I went and ran a few errands around town. The temperature was reading 102 at the trailer and on my truck. It was a pretty quiet day. Kyle got home around 6 and we ate supper and then went back to the trailer.

July 28=29 The days are a blur

The time goes my fast. Sunday we didn't go over to see Peyton till about noon. Kyle and Kristen both finally got a good nights sleep. I even slept till 6 30.  Peyton is doing well and is so good. Later I went with Kyle to take a hot water sprayer back and then we had to go and get the rest of Kristen's stuff from her apartment. we had finally cleaned out a few closets but now we have filled them back up.  Monday Kyle had to go back to work. I went over about 8 and helped get Peyton ready for his Dr appointment. Kristen had a 10 o'clock to get her staples out . that went well. Peyton's appointment was 10:45. Kyle met us there. Peyton had gained    9 oz since Friday and had no signs of jaundice. Everything was normal. He goes back in a week.  When we got back Kristi and the girls were here.   They are going to spend the night with us and go home tomorrow. Peyton stayed up for a little bit and then pretty much slept the rest of the day.

July 26-27 Getting Peyton a routine

Peyton has had a hard time nursing so yesterday the Dr put him on infamil along with the breast feeding. He has started eating and pooping a lot now. He pretty much sleeps and you have to wake him up to feed. He generally now takes 2-3 oz every 2 1/2  hrs.  About the only time he cries is when you are changing his diaper. It seems that he is more awake in the evening. He will raise his head off your shoulder like he is trying to look around.  Rommel gets to come in at night and he just watches all the activity. He will will sleep in the hall way at night watching the bedroom and never move. Kyle was gone all day yesterday on a pressure washing job. He didn't get home till about 9. Peyton was awake but could barely keep his eyes open as Kyle  cleaned up and got him.  We then went back to the trailer and after walking Maggie to bed I went.

Peyton got to come home today. Of course when they tell you that you can go home in the morning that really means about noon.  We actually got him home about 1. He slept all the way home and then had a feeding and slept most of the evening. I smoked a ham with green beans and fruit salad for supper for everyone. Rommel had to move outdoors for now and he was  sad. Since Peyton slept so much Mom and Dad might have a restless night.

July 24-----Not Today

Dad and Mom had a better night and got some sleep. They are not coming home until tomorrow. Peyton is doing fine but the nursing doesn't always go well. They took him today and circumcised him and that went pretty smooth . He ate and slept pretty good the rest of the day. We spent most of the day getting the house cleaned and rearranged for Peyton's arrival. It was a. hot day and reached 100.  At 7:45 pm it was still 95 . Susan and I went to bed pretty early cause we were tired. I":m only going to put one picture of Peyton on here today as he looks much like he did yesterday.

July 23-----Quieter day for Peyton

Peyton pretty much kept Mom and Dad up all night. Kyle gave him a pacifer and he liked it.He is still not eating a lot but this is not unusual. I think he will eat when he gets hungry.   We went up there about 8 and stayed till about 11. We went back up that evening again. Kristin was doing much better. She was walking a lot and feeling pretty good. It is possible they could come home tomorrow.

July 22-------Peyton Made it

James Peyton Taylor arrived here at 7:46 am.  He was 22 inches tall. He weighed 8 lbs  13 oz. He beat that other kid here from England and is bigger too.  Everything went well and everyone is doing fine. It was a long day .We were at the hospital at 5:30 am. Peyton had a good day, after the nurses quit torturing him and he got to come to the room he pretty much slept the rest of the day even though he was passed around from person to person for awhile.   We have lots of pictures.   We now have three granddaughters and one grandson.

July 20-----Lost Phone day

Well, no baby yet. Susan and Kristen went to run errands this morning. Kyle had to work today. I was leaving to go to Kyles and realized I had no phone. This is not unusual for me. I hadn't been many places but still couldn't find it. I went back to Kyles house where I had been earlier doing a few things. No luck so I went to the dealership and borrowed Kyles phone to call Susan. I thought maybe I had left my phone in her car that morning.  Nope , not there. Later when Susan got  back I took her phone and started tracing all my travels calling my number. No luck doing that. I went back to the trailer feeling defeated.  I had about decided to go to Verizon and report my phone lost and get a new one. Kristen said lets go back to the house one more time and look around again especially in the couch. We got there and she had put her purse on the couch and walked away. I reached down to move it and sure enough down between the cushions it was. It wasn't ringing because I had left the volume turned off. I showed 15 missed calls from Susan's phone. I was happy happy when I found it.  I really had missed the navigation app when I was running around town looking for different stores.  Anyway no pictures today and no baby.

July 19----Headed to Bryan

Well, we stayed home about 4 days. Now we are in Bryan waiting for Peyton to arrive. He is scheduled to arrive Monday morning by "C" section if he doesn't decide to pop out sooner. Susan brought her car as we are planning to stay until August 11. She picked Kristen up when she got here and they ran a few errands. I set the trailer up and took Maggie for a walk. We stayed in this RV park last time and its close to Kyles house. Its an older park but well maintained. When they got back I went over and delivered more baby things we had brought. Our plan was to meet Kyle after work for supper. I headed back to the trailer to let Maggie out for awhile .  Susan called and said we might be headed to hospital as Kristen was having contractions. I went back over. Kristen had called the labor nurse at hospital and she said to wait till they got stronger before coming in. We left with bags packed and met Kyle for supper. They contractions never stopped but never really got any stronger.  We will just have to wait and see if Peyton waits till Monday.

July 13--- Last day at Beaver Lake

It finally cooled off here. It was 61 when i got in this morning. We really had no plans for today except to start packing up. We are leaving tomorrow. After cooking breakfast  I packed up most of the outside items. Susan packed up all of her sewing stuff. The Logan's came by and visited for awhile.  We just piddled around most of the day. I took one last swim in the lake and then we headed into Eureka Springs for supper. We took the long way into town just looking at the countryside. Decided to eat at a little Bavarian Inn I had always wanted to try. Turned out to be a great place. Left there and hit the ice cream shop and headed home.We leave in the morning for home. We will be home for a few days and then head to Bryan for the new grandbabys arrival.
Time to pack up and head home

July 12-----White river Kayaking

Heading down the river
Getting started

Taking a break on a gravel bar
We got up early (for Susan) and met our new friends to go kayaking. There was eight of us going, Me and Susan,  Kevin,Amber and their two children Will & Anna,  also Joe & Debbie.  We went and unloaded our kayaks below Beaver Dam and then took two trucks to our destination point and drove mine back. It was cold and foggy on the river . The water was ice cold and hurt  you when you got in it.  Our float trip was to be 7 miles.  If the power plant was generating it would take about 2 hours ,if not then it would take about 4 hrs or so.  They were not generating this morning so we had a longer trip. The fog stayed on the river for about the first hour and then cleared up. We saw lots of trout fisherman and saw a lot of trout. Amber said sometimes you will see a lot of spoonbills but we didn't.  It was a pretty float. The water was crystal clear and you could see the bottom  and anything in the water. I figured out that Will had the best idea. He sat behind his Mom and ate snacks and looked around. I sat behind Susan but had to paddle and no snacks. I thought that when we got down the river that the water would warm up and I could swim. Nope, didn't happen, I mean that water would hurt you. The last two miles the river got wider and it seemed to take a long time to navigate this part.   We were happy when we made it. Pretty much as soon as we got back to camp we ate a sandwich and took a nap. Susan was really wore out., We couldn't decide what we were gonna do for supper. Later Amber showed up and invited us to come down for hamburgers. That sounded good so off we went and had a great evening visiting with them along with their parents Bill & Earlene.

July 11----Lake Kayaking

Cool front has not arrived here on Beaver Lake. We piddled around camp this morning and then decided to head across the lake in our kayak and find a cove to swim in. We found a nice rock beach with ledges and deep water about 10 feet off shore. It was nice and cool and very clear water. Spent a couple of hours there and headed back. We left our kayak by the Logan"s who have a water site front. We are going kayaking on the river with their daughter, son in law and another couple tomorrow.  We rested in the trailer and then went back swimming at the lake. That really helped beat the heat. We talked with  the Logan's for awhile and headed home for supper. We plan to get an early start tomorrow.

July 10---Another hot day at the Lake

Yep, the temperature hit 99 today. There was barely a breeze at times. It is good to have AC. We went to Pea Ridge this morning. I dropped Susan off at a quilt shop in town and I went back to the Pea Ridge Military National Park. I have been here before but was able to take my time today to wander around. They had a 45 minute film about the battle which was good. The rest of the tour is auto-tour with about eight stops. I have gone to a lot of civil war battlefields and my goal is  to see them all.  This one has a unique spot called the Elkhorn Tavern.  The Trail of Tears passed by here    in 1837.  The Butterfield Overland stage passed thru here in 1857-1861. It also was the site of the deciding battle of Pea Ridge. I went back to town and picked Susan up and we headed back home. We took a narrow back country rode which was a pretty drive.  We both took a little nap and did some reading. We heading in to Eureka Springs to eat supper before we went to the Ozark Mountain Hoe Down.  We saw a chopper fly by and we both wondered if it might be a life flight. We made a couple of miles and yes Hwy 62 was shut down. It has about a 4 mile run of steep winding curves on the way to town and somewhere there was a problem. I was able to turn around and we took an alternate extra 20 mile drive to town. We were actually eating in town when the highway opened up. We left and went to the Hoe Down show. We always come here every time we  are in this area. Its a good show. There wasn't a big crowd but we all had a good time.
