Susan retired from education in May 2011 and I retired in December 2011 . We are not full timers but do travel a lot. We enjoy traveling around the country. There are many beautiful places in the USA and we are going to try and see all of them while we can.
It was another nice morning when I we got up. Not quite as cool as yesterday but still around 65 degrees. We didn't have much to pack up so we got on the road about 9:30. Its only about a 4 !/2 hour drive to Beaver Lake. Its an easy drive and when you get north of Fort Smith the scenery becomes very pretty. Right before you get there is a little town called Garfield. A little store called the Bus Stop resides here and we always stop to get an ice cream cone. They have the biggest scoops I have ever had, a single will do you and a double scoop is gigantic. Anyway we made our way on to Beaver Lake from there. There is about a 6 mile narrow climb you have to make but its not too bad. The campground we are staying at is on a little island. Really nice water views no matter where you camp. We have a place on top of the hill which has shade trees. Most of the waterfront sites have no shade. There is only electricity here so you live on your water tank. There are two places to fill your tanks. I have a 60 gallon water bladder and a pump so I can fill my tank without moving the trailer. Works great. It has started to warm up some for the next couple of days until a cool front moves in on Thursday. I think we are going to have a great week here.
