It was a
mighty chilly morning, about 42 degrees. I built a nice fire outside and drank
my coffee listening to the river flow. Susan slept pretty late but eventually
joined me. We decided to drive the county road over the mountain and then on to
Telluride and eat lunch. The road went
from paved to gravel to rock. It became mostly a single lane road. Luckily we
met only one vehicle, they were from Texas and we chatted while trying to
squeeze by. They had the wall and we had the cliff. We made it with about 4
inches to spare. There were several places where someone would have had to back
up. Yep we really needed a jeep. The scenery was spectacular in places. At the
summit was a really nice meadow. It would be great to camp up there. All in all
we drove 26 miles and it took one hour and 45 minutes. Once we hit the pavement
again we went on to Telluride. It was a busy congested little town. It’s not
our kind of place but we can say we have been there. The ride back to the
campground was pretty and a lot easier. We just chilled out the rest of the
day. The pictures I took just don’t do
justice to what we saw,
