June 14-19 Lake Waco Trip

We met Greg and Pam Sunday morning about 9:30 to head out to Airport Park on Lake Waco.  There was no reason to leave any earlier as check-in time was 3:00 pm. The park is usually full on Friday and Saturday nights and some folks wait till the 2:00 checkout time to leave. We stopped in Madisonville at Buckee"s for Susan and Pam, decided to gas up while we were there and it was crazy. I don"t usually stop there but I had a weak moment. Probably won"t happen again. We went down the road a little ways and ate lunch at Woodys Smokehouse in Centerville. They have a big parking area in back for truck and trailers.  We arrived at the park about 2:30 and checked in. We got our trailers set up and then just chilled outside the rest of the evening, My spot was very shaded and with the breeze from the water it was very nice. Greg cooked fajitas for supper.  Monday morning I got up early as usual and sat out drinking my coffee watching the sub rise.  Greg went for a run early and Pam took her dog Scout for a long walk.  Maggie doesn"t take long walks anymore in her old age.  I cooked omelets for breakfast for Susan and I.  Greg cooked breakfast for them as he eats healthy.  Later that morning we went to Wally World to pick up a few items we needed.  We floated in the lake for several hours during the day. The water was great.  We just relaxed around camp again all evening. I cooked pork chops and asperagus for supper. It was a really good day.  Tuesday morning Greg , Pam , Scout, and I took a nice walk around the park, it was such a nice morning. After breakfast Susan and Pam went to some quilt shops and Greg and I just spent the day in camp reading and piddling. Later we all spent a couple of hrs in the lake just floating. Greg cooked salmon and green beans for supper. We had just another nice evening chilling. Wednesday was another nice day. The wind was really blowing today so everything needed to be tied down. We had never been to Lake Whitney so we decided to drive there and look at the State Park.  Its a pretty lake but we were  not impressed with the lakeside camping. They did have some nice wooded campsites off the lake. We stopped in the little town of Whitney and got a treat at the yogurt shop. After that we drove thru Lofers Bend COE and it is a really nice park. We found several sites with good shade and nice lakeview that we would stay at. When we got back we just chilled the rest of the day. I grilled chicken and squash for supper, another great evening.  Thursday was our last full day here in Lake Waco. The wind continued to blow with white caps on the lake. Pam and Susan went shopping and Greg an I stayed home. We just relaxed and read. That evening we floated in the lake for awhile.  Greg cooked shrimp and vegetables for supper. We had another very nice evening.  Wed have had such nice weather this week, if would stay this way I could stay here for awhile. As long as you can get a shady spot you can stay outside all day and its nice. Friday morning we packed up and headed home. It was windy all the way home but the trailer pulled fine, We stopped for fuel and lunch just outside Navasota.  We got home around 3:00 pm.   It was a good short trip to check out the trailer. We only hooked up to electricity. Ran off our fresh water tank and didnt have to refill or dump our tanks till we left. Everything worked and found no problems.
