April 22-27 Staying in Kingwood

We headed to Kingwood Thursday to stay awhile. Kristi was getting ACL knee surgery that day. Its only day surgery so she was home that evening. Since Mackenna is driving now she picks up everyone from school. All the girls activities each evening are pretty much covered. The land clearing for Phase 1 of their new volleyball facilties started Thursday. We went and looked at the progress and it was pretty amazing how much was cleared with a dozer on the first day. Mike had hired a friend of Kevin"s to do the work. On Friday we went back out there. Ryan (Kevins friend) set up Mike Z in the trac hoe and let him push down a big pine, lots of fun.   He finished up clearing everything that day. Kristi went to PT that morning and her calf was hurting. PT called Dr and they got an ultra sound down and found a blood clot. We then headed to see the surgeons PA to let her look at leg. they scheduled an MRI saturday morning and no physical therapy till the dr cleared it. Saturday morning Mike and I went to Sammi"s volleyball tournament and Susan took Kristi to the MRI.  Sunday Mike and I went and tried to start burning all the trees . Everything was still so green that we couldn"t get a good fire going.  Monday Susan went to a quilting bee and then home. Mike z took Kristi to the Dr.  He said the blood clot was about 1 inch. He said the blood thinners were working and there should not be any more problems. She can resume modified physical therapy probably starting Tuesday.  Tuesday, this morning, Mike carries Kristi to the surgeon for another check up and I"m heading home.

April 17,18,19 A Few Cool Windy Days and Home Again

Saturday morning was a cooler drier morning. It was around 47 degrees with a brisk 10-15 mph wind. I did my morning walk but only did a mile. It was too windy to sit outside. Later in the day we drove to Perdenales State Park. I wanted to hike down to the Falls and just look around the park. We were surprised that you needed reservations for a day pass and they were already sold out. Crazy.  We then went to Blanco where they were having a little market around the old courthouse. It was still cold and windy so we didn"t stay long.  Back at the trailer we just chilled  the rest of the evening with Susan sewing and I was reading. Sunday morning was pretty cool again but the wind had layed. I got in a nice walk and it was just a gorgeous morning. I cooked breakfast and just piddled around. The wind did pick up during the day. We decided that we would head home tomorrow. I picked up most of my stuff and loaded before bedtime so in the morning it wouldn"t take long to hook up and roll. Monday morning was very cool again running about 49 with not much wind. We got on the road about 8:30. I took a different way home to stay off I-10 in Houston, a lot less stressful drive.  We ate breakfast at Mels Diner in Giddings. Its a small cafe with plenty of parking behind it on the street if you have a trailer. We got home about 2:00.  It was nice that ir was cool to unload the trailer which did not take long.  Our next planned trip isn"t till May.

April 16, 2021 Last Campers Standing

It was a nasty kind of morning. I tried to take my early morning walk but there was a heavy mist and fog. The temperature was not cold but about 62. We just sat under the awning with the fire pit going most of the morning. Greg and Pam loaded up and headed out around 10:00.  A little later we ran to Brookshire Brothers to pick up a few things. When we got back we just chilled and watched a movie. Finally the misty rain and heavy overcast started moving out and it was a nice evening. We had steak and baked potato for supper. Just a slow day.

Greg and Pam headed out

April 15, 2021 A Visit to Gruene

There was a slight mist in the air when I got up and not much breeze. I did my morning walk and Greg did his morning run. Susan slept pretty late, while we sat outside. The wind picked up and the temperature dropped to about 62.  Just cool enough to break out the fire pit. Later we cooked a little breakfast. We decided to head to Gruene to look around.  We drove the River Road and it was nice. Not any traffic , the river is low and would be hard to float. Everyone did a little shopping at Gruene and  I did most of my shopping at Gruene Hall. Eventually everyone showed up to meet me. We decided to go back to camp for a late lunch.  It was just a heavy mist coming down. We napped and watched tv.  For supper we headed to Blanco and ate BBQ at the Old 300.  It was very good and we enjoyed it. Still drizzling when we headed home pretty good. I watched a little tv and Susan sewed untill bedtime.

April 14, 2021 A Restful Day

Another fairly nice morning. I did about a two mile walk with Greg joining me.  When we got back just sat  around camp.  Susan and Pam got up and joined us. I cooked a little breakfast on my new camp stove I bought at Cabellas yesterday. It worked better than expected with plenty of btu, something I was worried about. The other couples Jamie/Belinda and Frank Eileen pulled out headed home. Pam brought her sewing machine over and her and Susan sewed  till nap time. Maggie and I piddled around outside reading and napping all day. I did use my honeypot and dumped my black tank. For supper Greg cooked some chicken quarters and we just visited till bed time. It was a good day to recharge.

April 13 2021 Day Trip to Cabela"s

It was not really cool when I got up. I changed clothes and took my walk. I saw lots of deer at daybreak as I made my rounds. Greg took his morning run and when finished came and sat outside at our trailer. After Susan and Pam got up they decided to go to Cabela"s today. Our other campers were still asleep so we headed out. The thing about Cabelas is even if you are not looking for something specific you will always find something. We stayed in Cabela"s way too long.  One of the store employees offered to get us another cart as ours was full. We left there and ate lunch at Garcia"s in downtown Buda. After lunch we made one stop at a quilt shop. We left there and meandered thru the country back to camp.  We just visited and Greg cooked pork chops for supper. Belinda brought corn and potato salad. Frank and Eileen went to San Antonio for supper.

April 11,12, 2021 Piddling Around and Enchanted Rock

It really cooled off Sunday morning. It was 47 when I got up. During the night Susan said she was cold so I got up and turned the heat on. When I got up at 5 it was still a little cool in the trailer so sure enough I ran out of propane.  I switched bottles and it ran about 10 minutes before it was empty. Then I took my for sure full bottle for my fire pit and hooked it up. Susan then had a warm trailer. It would have been a perfect morning to sit outside by a fire since the wind had laid.  There is a burn ban so wood fires are not allowed. I took a nice walk around park. When Susan got up she took her once a week medicine for arthritis and it made her sick, sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn"t. Belinda also was up at 4:00 am and couldn"t sleep. Therefore we just chilled in camp all day. I did go and exchange my propane tanks. Pam and Greg  rolled in about 3:30 and they have the site us next to us. We cooked burgers for supper and everyone just visited.  Sunday morning Greg,Jamie, and myself drove to Enchanted Rock to climb.  It was a really nice morning and it was a good time. The weather was a little overcast but we still had good views. It seemed a little farther up than the last time I climbed it about 20 years ago.  While we were gone Susan and Pam went to a quilt shopping in Wimberley.  When we got back we rested awhile and then Greg/Pam me and Susan went to Blanco.  Susan and Pam went to a quilt shop there and Greg and I visited an old courthouse and rode the river road awhile.  We just had leftovers for supper and it was an early night for me.
