May 8----- Winery day

Today was the prettiest day we have had in Tennessee. We did get one brief thunder boomer in the evening that lasted about ten minutes, otherwise we had blue skies. We didn't do a lot today. Big Mike went golfing at a nearby course. Dean/Pat and Jim/Vicky went to quilt shops. Susan,Lavonna and I went riding the back roads ending up at a little winery. It was a nice little place and the lady running it was great. We tasted all her wines and each of us got our favorites. We then wound our way back home. I was able to get a little nap before supper. We had another nice evening with no wind and a nice fir.

May 7 Grand Ole Opry

I got up this morning and it was cool and very foggy. I took Maggie for a walk and washed a load of my laundry. The Park has one set of washer/dryers.  No one using them at 5:30 in the morning. It was about ten before the fog burned off and then it became a sunny day. I took a little nap and just relaxed all morning. We left for Nashville about two oclock. We drove downtown to see all the sights. No one really wanted to walk around so it was a car tour. We headed to eat about 4:00 before the show. We settled on Mexican food near the Opry house. We headed to the Opry about 5:30. Everyone went to the gift shop while I picked up our tickets at the office.  I"m glad I had my order number on my phone as You had to have that to get your tickets. Name and ID not enough. The doors  opened at 6:15 and we went in. We had great seats on the main floor about 7 rows from the stage. All the perfomances were good but for me Jim Ed Brown won the night.  He is 79 years old and his voice is still smooth. He sang two of his standards and then one new song just out " In Style Again".  He got a standing ovation from the crowd. Riders in the Sky were my next favorites and then Chris Young. The show was over much too soon. It was our second time to go to the Opry and we will go back again sometime.

May 6===Tennessee State Museum==Uh Oh

Today was a much nicer day.We had sunshine most of the day with just one small shower at supper time. Dean and I left for Nashville to go to the State Museum. Susan,Pat and Vicky went to quilt shops. Everyone else just stayed around the camp or went into town.  The parking in downtown Nashville is not made for my truck. We finally found a parking lot we could get into.After walking several blocks with part of the way uphill we arrived at the museum. Oops, the museum is closed on Mondays. It is inside a huge building in a sub-basement floor. We did look down at a few things. We left there and walked to the Capitol building and then back to the truck.   Finally made it back home and I took a nap. Jimmy cooked fish and hush puppies for supper. It was great. We had a nice fire and a pleasant night.

May 5--------- A better day

It rained all night but stopped about 7 in the morning. Maggie and I was able to take a good walk and not get wet. I saw on TV that there was a gun show at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds so I called all the guys to see if they wanted to go with me. We left about 9:30. It was not as big a show as I expected but I did find a few things I wanted. The girls in the meantime found a quilt shop to go to. After we left the gun show we ate lunch and headed to camping world. Mike Templeton needed some caulk to fix a little water leak. We all got home about the same time. The evening was nice as the rain stayed away.We built a nice fire and had beans, cornbread and rice for supper.

May 4===A rainy day

I got up about 5 this morning. It was a drizzling rain that was coming and going . The temp was about 56. It stopped around 7 and Maggie and I took a walk around the park. Not many people stirring about. The rain started again just as we got back and the temperature dropped to about 48. According to the local weather we were probably going to get 3=5 inches of rain for the next 24 hours. We didn't get that much but it rained all day. Most of the women gathered in our trailer and did some sewing or quilting. Jimmy and I went to town and ran a few errands. We had planned an outing today but decided to stay home. For supper it was a leftover night. The rain stopped for a little while and we built a fire. We only got to use it for about an hour and a half and the rain started again.   Yucky day, hoping for better weather tomorrow.

May 3-----A nice day

We really didn't do much today. Got up early and sat by the lake drinking my coffee. Jimmy got up and did a little fly fishing. He was just catching bream but had a good time. Later most of the ladies went to quilt shops. The rest of us made a trip to Walmart to restock supplies. When we got back I ate a sandwich and took a nap. We set up a 10 x 10 cover by my canopy because we were expecting rain and wind. Luckily we only got some drizzle and then no rain for the evening. The weather men says that we are
gonna get a couple of inches late tonight.

May 2---Made it toTennesse

Today was a long day for us. We left at 7 am and arrived at Defeated Creek Campground about 4:30 pm.  It wasn't a bad drive except some of the roads were rough. The inside of our trailer was tossed around pretty good. We set camp up and cooked hot dogs and sausage for supper. Quick and easy. It was a nice night but it started to sprinkle a little. Looks like we might have rain for the next three days.
