Jan 2,2014 San Antonio RV Show

I didn't sleep well last night which is unusual for me. It seems that I am starting to get up a little later each day also. Anyway it was about 6:15 when I got up and the temperature was about 35 with a brisk wind, Maggie's first walk wasn't very long . As the sun came up you could tell it was going to be a beautiful day. Susan and I decided to run into San Antonio and go to the RV show. We are  not buying but like to look. We usually see at least one new floor plan that we like and this show was no different. We went in trailers that cost from 13,000 to 130,000.  We actually found a bumper pull trailer that we really liked but I doubt if I would ever go back to a bumper pull. I would like to be no longer than 36 ft on a new firth wheel.  We found two floor plans that we really liked. One was a Cardinal that was just a little over 36 ft. The other was a BlueRridge that also had an outdoor kitchen. I really want the outdoor kitchen so this would have been my pick today. We had thought about going to Bass Pro when we left the show but we were just too tired. We headed on home. I started picking up a few outside items getting them arranged to load. We are leaving tomorrow and headed to Canyon Lake. We had a leftover supper, I took chicken,pork,peppers,onions and rice . Sauteed the veggies and then added the dirty rice and meat and let them cook for awhile. Turned out great..

Jan 1 2014 New Years Day

The first day of the year was a pretty, sunny day here. We both slept late, for us anyway. My back was feeling much better after a good nights rest. We piddled around for awhile then headed to the Academy store that was close to us. This store had some good sales and both Susan and I got some shirts. We left there and headed back  to the trailer for lunch. We got Maggie and took a nice walk down to Onion Creek and the Falls. Lots of people were out and Maggie met several people. The creek was running nicely but a little to cold to go swimimg.  Back in November they had lots of rain and the creek really flooded. You could still see the debris high in the trees along the bank. It must have been an amazing sight to see. When we got back I sat in a sunny spot and read for awhile.  We might go to San Antonio tomorrow to the RV show. We are not buying but like to look.

12/31/13 Last Day of theYyear

I got up this morning feeling better as far as my cold is going, cough is almost gone and talking much better. Unfortunately my back is not so well. Yesterday when I was in Camping World. I was checking different generators for their weight to see what I could handle and now I know. Old age not always fun. We got ready and headed to Cabala":s. It is one of my favorite stores to go to. You used to be able to get some good deals on after Christmas sales but not anymore. Po Boys need not come here. I hobbled around for a couple of hours and only bought a compass. Susan found a couple of pair of shoes and a few shirts. We then went to a little Mexican restaurant in old downtown Buda and had a light lunch. We left there and went to a thrift shop that Abby had told Susan about but didn't find anything there. Back to the trailer to rest. The sun finally came out and it turned into a pretty day. I took my satellite dome apart and watched it work. It is definitely locking on to the wrong satellite. I will call Winegard Thursday for a little tech help. Susan, Maggie and I took a nice little walk and then sat by the fire till dark. I grilled chicken and veggies for our New Years Eve supper.

12/30/13 A first for us at Camping world

I actually woke up feeling better this morning but Susan had a scratchy throat.It was pretty cool outside about 35. We loaded up and headed to San Marcos so Susan could go to the Vera Bradley store at the outlet mall. She had a couple of coupons to use and found her some neat stuff there. I sat in the truck and read in my Kindle, We left there and went to Camping World which is usually a kiss of death on the pocketbook. We didn't buy anything while we were there, mainly because we will be in the area for awhile and will be back later.  The day never really warmed up and stayed overcast.   Our plans were to go on to Cabala's but I wasn't feeling good so we headed back to the trailer. We ate a late lunch and took a nap. Later that evening I tried getting my satellite tv to work, After about a hour on the phone with dish we think my Winegard carryout satellite is not working correctly. Its only 2 years old but I am going to call Winegard tomorrow  for help.  With it still cold and windy I didn't cook outside so we just went and ate Mexican food at a little place near here. No pics today as I didn't even take my camera out.

12/29/13 Travel Day to Mckinney Falls State Park

Wow, I slept till 6:30 this morning. I guess that NyQuil does make you sleep. I am feeling better but not  quite 100 %.  We are not in a hurry today as we only have about a 2 hr drive. Maggie and I took a nice walk this morning and I saw a really good Buck. Of course I didn't bring my camera and couldn't get a good picture with my cell phone.Its the first buck I have seen here but there are lots of does. We got on the road about 10. Stopped in Giddings and had breakfast at Subway. We pulled into the park about 12:30. We were able to get a nice pull-thru that we had stayed in before. I am glad we got here early as lots of trailers came in later. The park is almost full and I am a  little surprised, We are here  about a week earlier than normal , usually not this many campers then., We went to the store and picked up a few groceries. For supper I grilled salmon and some wild rice to go with it. We had a little campfire but the wind got up so we went on in.

12-28 Lake Somerville

It was a really nice day here on the lake. About 40 when I got up and made it to 57 for a high. I was feeling a  little better today. I took Maggie on her first walk this morning and we saw lots of deer, In the distance you could hear the duck hunters blasting away. This is a nice park with 4 camping loops. The loop we are in has only 2 other campers. It sure makes it quiet.The lake is  low from the drought but is still pretty. We ran back to Brenham so Susan could go to a couple of resale shops, fueled up the truck and came back. We drove thru a couple of other parks on the Lake to check them out as we have never been here before. When we got back I tired to get my satellite dish to working but couldn't. I decided to take a nap and then do some reading. In the evening Susan and i took a nice walk. We saw lots of deer feeding in the park. When we got back I built a fire , had happy hour and cooked pork chops/sausage for supper.It was a nice evening.

12/27 Travel Day

Our plans were to head to Bryan for a couple of days but we decided to change them. I still had some kind of crud and could barely talk. We didn't want to take a chance of getting Peyton sick so we decided to stop there on the way back. Its great not having any plans set in stone except to be somewhere for a few weeks. I decided to go to Lake Som

erville for a couple of days. We had never been there so thought it would be a good opportunity. It  was about a 3 hr drive and we pulled into Rocky Creek Campground, its a COE.  We found a nice spot with lots of sunshine and a lake view. We got set up and just chilled for awhile. We decided to go eat Mexican food in Brenham which is about 15 miles away.We drove around the park on the way out and saw lots of deer.  Hope I start feeling better soon.
