June 20 Traveling to Santa Rosa State Pqark, New Mexico

We got on the road by 7 this morning.  We made one stop for breakfast and two fuel stops. Gained an hour when we hit New Mexico. Pulled into Santa Rosa Lake State Park about 2:00 pm.  I got the trailer set up and never broke a sweat. The temp was about 92 but the humidity was 15%.  We had a nice breeze and it was nice outside, except the gnats were bad.  This park is nice but the landscape takes  a little getting used to.  Tomorrow I want to go to a RT 66  .museum in town. Its supposed to be nice. We may  leave here Sunday or maybe Monday.

June 19, 2014 Abilene State Park

Walking Maggie

I slept like a rock last night . Today is going to be a day of rest.  Maggie and I took a nice walk this morning. We saw about 12 deer. We cooked breakfast outside and enjoyed the morning. Later we ran to Abilene to get some fuses and a few  supplies.  We ran by Lake Abilene to take a look at how dry it is. Its gonna take a lot of rain to fill it up. Abilene is a nice clean town. We hung around the park and took some walks. Susan did some sewing. That evening we went into Buffalo Gap and ate supper. On the way back  to the trailer we saw a baby deer trying to cross the road. It just had to lay down and rest. I was going to pick it up and move it into the woods but it got up by itself. Momma was watching it so it wasn’t alone.  We are going to leave about 7 in the morning  and head to New Mexico.

June 18, 2014 Travel to Abilene State Park

We left this morning about 8:00 am. We just meandered west across Texas.  Our first stop was in Marlin to eat breakfast at a Subway. We like to eat there because its quick and easy. Our next stop was a little roadside park near Hamiliton.  I just needed to walk around a little to loosen up my old joints. Our next stop was Comanche to fuel up. We decided we were going to spend two nights in Abilene State Park.   As we got close our cell phones lost signal so no navigation. We resorted to maps but it still was a challenge to find the park.  We had never been in this part of the country before. It is pretty here and not what I thought it would be. In fact since we have had some rain this year it was very green all the way here. We ran mostly backroads and enjoyed the drive.  Our campsite is wooded, somehow I managed to get a satellite signal so we head TV. Our cell phone signal is spotty here but if we go about three miles it becomes 4g again. Its good to get a day of rest before we head to New Mexico.

June 17,2014 First Stop------------------ Peyton

We left this morning for our summer trip. Our plans are to visit New Mexico, Colorado and Wyoming. We headed to Bryan to visit Peyton for one night. It was a nice drive. We stopped in New Waverly and had breakfast. Once in Byran we setup and took a short nap. We headed over to Kyles and spent the rest of the evening playing with Peyton. He is growing so fast, always happy and active. He is not quite walking yet but I bet when we get back he will be running.

June 12,13,14,15 2014 Swim Swim Swim, Artesian Springs

Sammi and I were up at 6:15. She took Maggie for a walk while I drank my coffee.It was fairly nice outside. After everyone else got up later we scrambled eggs and bacon. John & Jen arrived about 9:30 am. I was surprise they got there so early.The twins Holly and John were excited. We pretty much swam all day and the girls played with the twins. Not a lot of pictures as I forgot to charge my battery. We grilled chicken  and had corn on the cob for supper. Mike and Kristi got here about 9:15 pm They got set up and the girls slept over there. Tomorrow should be a fun day if we don't get rain. We got quite a rain Thursday night but it was over by morning. We did lots of swimming all day and the kids had a blast. That evening we put our tent canopy's up as the weather looked like it might rain. We just got finished and the rain and hail came down. Little Johns canopy was destroyed but the others survived. Power went out in the camp ground.  Johns friends showed up and got set up. More rain came down till about 8:00 pm. Power came back on about 8:30 pm. For the next two days we swam and ate. Fun was had by all. We left early Sunday morning as we have a quick turnaround. Tuesday morning we leave for the summer. For some reason we lost our cell phone service so I couldn't update my blog. Also I didnt  take as many pictures as normal as I was always busy.

June 11, 2014-------Grandkids and Artesian Springs

We got the grandkids yesterday. Its our last time to see them untill we get back in late August.  We are headed to Artesian Springs near Newton Tx. Its a spring fed lake with two diving platforms and a 100 ft waterslide. Its a nice litttle campground in the middle of nowwhere. Mike & Kristi are coming up Thursday night and then John/Jennifer & the twins are coming Friday. The weather should be nice for Texas this time of year. We had a nice drive and got there about noon. Sammi went down for a nap and I took the girls swimming. Later Susan and Sammi came on down. I was surprised that Sammi would jump off the high diving platform and also the waterslide. The platform is about 20 ft high and the waterslide is 100 feet.Later we cleaned up and went to Newton for supper. Only one placed to eat, luckily it was mexican food..After that we went to Dairy Queen for ice cream.  Tomorrow will be another fun day. I will try to get some action pictures tomorrow.

May 19,2014 Playing with Peyton

I was sitting at the Verizon store when they opened this morning. I was out in 15 minutes with my phone working. New phones can be a pain. Not a lot to say about today other than we played with Peyton all day. He is  a happy baby and really active.He can almost stand up alone, not quite there yet. We had a lot of fun with him today. We head home in  the morning. Kristi leaves  for Africa  in 10 days so we will help keep the girls till she gets back .Then we will head out for the summer.
