May 11, 2015 Truck Aches & Back Aches

I took my truck into the shop early this morning. They are going to try and work my truck into their schedule to have me out by Thursday. My truck ran fine all the way in but I"m still wanting to get it checked out. It took Enterprise two hrs to come pick me up but i got the shop rate of $24.00 dollars a day plus one tank of gas free for my time... I finally got back to the park by 12:30 .  My back had been hurting all morning so I took some back pills and took a nap. Susan just sewed all day. She said that there was one strong rainstorm this morning and Maggie was neurotic. When I got up i felt better so Maggie and I took a little walk. We saw several deer and two jackrabbits. Two more RVs showed up in our loop so that makes five of us happy campers. We had a nice evening doing nothing.

May 10, 2015 Its Deserted Here Now

I did some internet searching on my truck this morning. Its throwing a code which says lift pump problem. That could be it as I think its fuel related. It cranked and ran fine this morning. We elected to stay home today since it was Sunday, didnt want to take a chance of getting stranded. Tomorrow I will take it to a shop to get checked out. Took a few walks in the park in between rain showers. Susan sewed most of the day. The park was full last night but by supper time there was only one other rv in our loop.I think it is going to be a nice quiet week.

May 9, 2015 Just Relaxing

I got up early this morning mainly because my back ached. Maggie and I took a dawn walk and we saw a few deer. It never rained but the wind did really blow. Later we went to New Braunfels for Susan to go to Hobby Lobby and of course Camping World..We went back to camp and just chilled the rest of the day. Susan did some sewing and I did some napping and resting. That evening we went to eat Mexican food. On the way back our truck just died. No reason for it, I cranked it and it turned over a little and started up. Came back to the trailer with no problem. I think I will get the fuel filter changed cause it seemed like it was starving for fuel. Time will tell.

May 8,2015 We moved to Canyon Lake

We had a short haul today, total trip was 30  miles. We left around 10:am and arrived at Potters Creek by 10:45. We had a light rain when we left but was just misting when we got to our camp site. We are in Loop 4 and there are only about 5 trailers here but it's supposed to be full for the weekend. We got set up and I was able to get the awning down. The wind was blowing pretty good but I managed to get the tie-downs in the ground.We were able to sit outside most of the day as the light drizzle was off and on. We met our neighbor, Nan,and her Australian Shepard.. They are from California and have been full timing for a year now.  They are moving their residence to Texas and there home base will be the Escapee's in Livingston. Since the day was so dreary I didn't take many pictures. The lake is lower than it was the last time we were here. By 7:00 pm the park was filling up so it might be full by tomorrow. The sites are nice and large here so its still nice. By Sunday evening it will be very quiet again.

May 7, 2015 A slow quiet day

It was a nice morning. No rain and the wind was blowing slightly. Maggie and I walked along the river, no one else was out  but a few ducks. There were lots of doves cooing in the trees. When Susan got up we just chilled outside for most of the morning. I cooked a little breakfast and then we decided to take a little drive thru the country side. We have never seen it greener than it is this year. We did make one stop at a quilt shop in Blanco. Later we grilled some chicken for supper and called it a night. Tomorrow we are moving to Canyon Lake.

May 6 2015 LBJ Historical and State Park

I got up early this morning, just couldn't sleep and my back was aching. It was a light mist as Maggie and I took a dawn walk. We got back and just sat under the awning till Susan got up. We decided to eat breakfast at our favorite little breakfast place called "The Chess Club". Its a small house they made into a cafe for breakfast and lunch. We left there and made a little drive thru the country. It is really pretty and green with all the rain this spring.. We decided to go to LBJ"s place and tour the park; They have a living history farm that is really nice.They have volunteers that stay there during the day running the farm as it was originally done. They cook all their meals on a cookstove, raise a garden for food and also animals.The farm belonged to some neighbors of the Johnson's. Well worth the time to see.. We then toured LBJ"s ranch and exhibits.We didn't go to the home residence as we were getting tired. ..We left and took a back road back to Blanco , it was another pretty drive. We both took naps and then sat outside till supper. We went to our favorite little Mexican food place here not far from the park "Antonijtos". We could get pretty fat living in this area as there are a lot of good places to eat.We had a nice evening in the park.

May 5, 2015 We are at Blanco State Park

This has been the longest stretch of time that we have stayed home since I retired. While it was nice to be home we  were itching to hit the road. We finally decided to make a small hill country trip.We left about 7:30 am. We knew the traffic on I-10 thru Houston would be bad  so we decided to take the Beltway 8 and then 290 outbound. This turned out to be a nice drive with not too much traffic We stopped in Chappel Hill at.a small cafe and had breakfast. We arrived in Blanco about 12:45.  We have been here several times and really like it. Luckily one of my favorite spots was open. The weather was nice and we got all set up.I took Maggie for a long walk down by the. river .On the way back I met a nice couple from Sheperd,Tx.. We knew a lot of the same people.They are camped across the street from us. Later that evening we sat outside under the awning as it started to drizzle. It was still nice and I was able to grill some chicken on my little Weber. It started pouring around 6:30 and rained the rest of the evening so no campfire.
