March 5, 2016 Day 3 in Canton

This is our last full day in Canton .It turned into another pretty day. The grounds were packed and the car lines coming in looked like a line of ants. Susan had pulled a muscle last night and wasn't walking real good. She just went to a couple of quilt shops and called it a day. Jimmy and I made one last round up on the hill and we shut down also. Janice  and Martin  came around noon and visited us. Some of the others stayed out most of the day. Lil John cooked jambalaya and JC cooked a stew for supper. We had another great evening sitting by the fire.

March 4, 2016 Day 2 Canton Texas

I slept a little later this morning almost 6 before I got up. It was a chilly morning about 38 degrees. It warmed up pretty fast and turned into another gorgeous day. There was more people out and about today. I bet tomorrow it will be a lots of people. Susan and I browsed around some till Lil John showed up  and then he and I went back to the hill. After he wore me out walking  I headed back to camp. Susan stayed out till almost 3. Jimmy ,Dean and I tended  to camp. I had cooked a big pot of chili for supper so everything was ready when all the folks got back. We had a nice fire and a good evening.

March 3, 2016 Day 1 at Canton

It was a beautiful day at Canton. It was about 60 when I got up at 5.  Maggie and I took a walk while my coffee was brewing. At first looking at the parking lot I thought it had rained, then I realized that it was dry where I was standing. I walked in front and I could see water pouring out of Jimmy's trailer. The leak was coming from inside so I just blocked the water.When Jimmy got up he said a seal on his water pump had blown. Luckily it just flooded the front compartment. Easy fix. Susan,Patricia, and Vicky went to Walmart and then a quilt shop. We just sat and chilled outside. When the girls got back we headed different directions to shop till we dropped. Susan and I went up the hill to look at all the junk first. When I wore out I headed back to the trailer for my nap. Susan stayed out till about 2. We built a nice fire for the evening and had a good supper. John ,Jennifer and the twins made it here about 8:45. We got them set up  Michelle and her husband got here about 9 and set up beside Dean/Pat. I went to bed after that, way past my bed time.

March 2,2016 Headed to Canton Trade Days

Yesterday I got the trailer loaded and hooked up. This morning all we had to do was load a few last minute things. We were on the road by 7:00 am. It looks as if we might have terrific weather for the week. We had planned to stop in Groveton at a little cafe to eat breakfast. When we got there there was no place where we could park our truck and trailer. There used to be an abandoned building and empty lot we could park at but someone is remodeling the building and we couldn't get in the lot. We had to settle for MacDonald's in Palestine for breakfast. We arrived in Canton about 11:30.  Dean and Patricia got there about 30 minutes later. Jimmy and Vicky made it about 1:00 pm. The ladies went to a Quilt shop in Mineoloa and the guys just had an early happy hour. It was a pretty day. We all went and ate Mexican food for supper. Everyone went to their trailers when we got back. It was an early night . All in all a pretty relaxing day.

Jan 15,16,17 Repairing Ranger and Grand kids

Last week Kevin had pretty much disassembled the Ranger so we could change out carrier bearing and check the clucthes .  The carrier bearing came in on Friday. With the rear end jacked up we checked the clutch action and it looked good. Upon inspection we found two cross braces on frame severely bent. That's what caused carrier bearing to fail. The plastic skid plate is really pretty useless.After taking all the body off and floor boards and skid plate it is obvious that to properly clean this it must come apart. It looked clean but we found lots of sand in hidden places.   Kyle,Kristen and kids came in Friday night. Kyle and Kevin worked on their old green deer lease truck. They want to put a different carburetor on it but having a hard time getting the right spacer. Still got the wrong one even thou the box stated it would fit.We worked all day on Ranger, the carrier bear was galded on shaft so the drive shaft had to be pulled. We had to heat up cross braces and beat them back down with sledge hammer. On Sunday we got it all put back together. The kids had a big time playing both days. Luke is starting to walk and he is funny to watch. They all left Sunday and it sure was quiet in the house afterward.

Jan 9,10,11 2016 Lukes Birthday and a Hospital Stay

 We picked Mom up Saturday morning and headed up to Bryan for Luke's 1st Birthday. It was a little warm when we left Liberty but was cold when we got to Bryan. About  46 degrees with a 20 mph wind.  Luke is starting to walk pretty good. If he is in a hurry will drop and crawl. He had a good time with everyone there. We headed home and arrived about 6:00 pm.   I was tired and went to bed around 8. Things got strange after this.  Susan woke me up somewhere around 8:30. She was asking me where a ring on her finger had come from.and  that something was wrong. After I kinda woke up I looked at the ring and said we picked that up[ yesterday in Baytown. She said she didn't remember going to Baytown. I then asked her do you remember what we did today and she couldn't remember. As it turned out she could not remember any events of the last year, She didn't know the day,year or month. She didn't know who the president was (that might be nice). She did remember people,names and relationships. Sh knew places and where she was. Physically she looked fine. I called my daughter in law Lori (shes a pharmacist) asked her what she thought.We went thru the signs of a stroke and she passed every one.I took her blood pressure 3 times and it was perfect.  Lori said she still needed to go to an ER and have a CT scan as there could be bleeding in the brain. We got dressed and head to San Jacinto Methodist in Baytown. All the way there Susan repeated the same questions and answers about every 3 minutes. Exact the same thing. Wow, what a ride. Adam met us at the ER. They evaluated her and took her straight in and did a ct scan first thing. The Er doc then evaluated her,  took blood and urine samples. The scan came back fine. They decided to admit her to the hospital and we went to a room. I then ran home to get us some clothes and headed back. About 3:00 am some of her memory was coming back.  The ER doc gave an initial diagnosis of Transient Global Amnesia.  We got maybe 3 hrs of sleep. When we got up Sunday morning Susan had recovered most a of her memory. She still was missing about 5 hrs starting around 8:30.  The last thing she remembered was sitting in her chair eating peanut butter and then waking up in hospital wondering how she got there and why.   They did a mental assessment and she passed easily.(my answers wouldn't have passed).  They did a MRI and a echocardigram.  All the test results came back fine. The only thing all 4 Dr's agreed on was it was not a stroke.  The neurologist said that Transient Global Amnesia was very rare and he had only seen one case in his career (and hes about 65). He thinks this will probably never happen again. We got home Monday night just in time to watch the Alabama Clemson game.

Dec 31, 2015 Travel Day Home and New Years Eve

Our plans changed and instead of going to Bandera for New Years we headed home. Susan had forgot that she had signed up for a Quilt Retreat for three days. My day didn't start well as I got my truck stuck in front of the trailer. Reagan pulled me out and I manged to hook up at an angle. We got on the road about 8:30. I stopped in Kerrville to get diesel.  The first station was way too small to get in. The second station the pump was broke. Finally at the third station I was able to fill up.  Kerrville is not a rv friendly place to fill up.  We went down the road a little ways and stopped in Comfort for breakfast. It was uneventful the rest of the way home and we arrived at 4:30. Instead of partying in Bandera we had a quiet evening at home and I was in bed by 8. I was so tired.  Happy New Years
