March 14, 2022 Spring Break Day 3

 Them boys didnt sleep to late this morning, they were up about 6:35. They watched a little tv and played with their inside toys. Susan had a sewing group meeting so she was up early and gone. After breakfast the boys headed outside to play.  After a couple of hours Luke came in to watch tv. Peyton and I got our little John Deere yard tractor and the dump trailer, we went around the yard picking up dead limbs. We filled our chiminea full so we could have a fire tonight. After lunch we we went riding on the Ranger, I started teaching Peyton to drive. We held on for dear life as he learned to handle the throttle and brakes smoothly. I had video but for some reason I can"t download it to this blog. He got pretty good and I suspect by the end of the week he will be ready to drive me around at the deer lease.  We didn't get to have a fire that evening as we started to get a little rain, They did go to bed pretty easy so maybe the running hard all day is finally catching up with them.

March 13, 2022 Spring Break Day 2

Well time changed last night so we sprang forward. By the new time I slept late as it was 6:15 when I got up. By 6:30 Peyton and Luke were up and ready to roll. They watched tv and played with their leggos untill Susan got up around 8.  We had breakfast and then went to town to see great gran-ma. They stayed with her while I went and bought her groceries. Greg and Pam came by and visited while we were there.  We got back home around noon. The boys stayed outside the rest of the day playing and then following their Uncle Kevin around. He had been at the deer lease for a couple of days. For supper we had hot dogs . They went to bed pretty easy. It was another gorgeous day and I think tomorrow will be also. 

March 12, 2022 Spring Break Day 1

I got up early and went to Bryan to pick up Peyton and Luke.  It was pretty chilly around 32 with a 15 mph wind. Since it was saturday I ran 1-10 then 290 because traffic was very light.   On the way back I went my normal route thru New Waverly and the National Forest. A little longer but less traffic and nice country side. As soon as we got home the boys collected their outside toy boxes and headed to their little dirt pile. The wind was too much for me but it didn"t bother them.  They pretty much stayed outside all day playing in the dirt and riding their bikes.  After lunch they did break out their leggos to play inside with. When supper was over they watched a little tv. Peyton hung with Nana in her sewing rooms He is fascinated watching the sewing machines run. Bath time came and then they settled on the couch and played on their tablets for awhile.  It took awhile for them to settle down for bed time. Lots of energy still. Tomorrrow ,I"ll get them up early and run them hard all day and they should wear down a little.

March 5 2022 Final Full Day at Canton

It was a very cloudy morning with lots of wind. The temperature was around 62 so pretty nice. We made our final morning shopping spree. I knew that there would be more folks today since it was Saturday. They started rolling in and filled up the parking.  We stopped at Jerry Malones booth and visitied with her for awhile. We then left and got lunch at a little Cajun place. They had good gumbo and cornbread. After that we headed to all the outside vendors. We found a few items to buy and then headed back to trailer. We both took a little nap. We then got in the truck and wound our way thru little roads and people to pick up the planters we bought. Luckily the lady told us an easier way to get back. Jamie and Belinda also had to drive to a couple of places to pick their treasures up. They came back to the trailer and we started Happy Hour and I cooked hamburgers for supper. It was a nice evening.  Tomorrow we head home.

March 4 2022 Friday at Canton

Today started out a little warmer and it was slightly overcast. We were still a little tired from yesterday but still got an early start. We didn"t stay as long on our first round as yesterday, we did about 2.5 miles. I finally broke down and bought some sunglasses. I did find a collection of guns but there were no deals to be find. Its a small world as Susan ran across some old friends ,the Ropers, as we haven"t seen them in many years. We headed back and both of us took a little nap. After lunch we headed out again and met up with Jamie/Belinda.  We only did about 2 hours and headed home. For supper we went to a little out of the way Mexican food place. The food was really good and the margaritas for free (limit two per person) and there were good also. All in all a nice day.

March 3, 2022 Canton 2nd Day

It was a nice cool morning about 41 degrees. The sun quickly warmed things up to a nice temperature. We headed out shopping for the morning.  Susan found a few things to buy but I didn"t buy anythings. I found a few things I might want but will wait till Saturday to purchase. We ate Rice/Beans/cornbread for a light lunch at a little cajun vendor and it was good. Later we had homemade ice cream made with an old John Deere engine with pulleys to churn the ice cream. We headed back to the trailer about noon to rest a little and take a nap. My phone app said we walked 4 miles.  About 2 we met up with Jamie/Belinda , she had rented a scooter because of a bad knee. We wandered around some more and headed back to the trailer about 5:00.  That was a shorter round of 3 miles, so we did make 7 miles for the day.  We then loaded up in the truck and went by Sonic to pick up burgers and headed to " The Mountain". Not a lot was open but our destination was a little winery bar at the top .  It was a small place and we sat outside, We did the wine tasting and drank some wine. We talked with all the folks around us and had a good time. We had folks from New Mexico, Lousiana, Oklahoma, and Missisippi.  Luckily there was a golf taxi to take us down the hill to our truck.

March 2 Canton

 We left for Canton Wednesday morning.  Its been about five years since we have been. Only one other couple going with us, Jamie & Belinda.  They are staying at an RV park very close to Trade Days. We are staying on the grounds in the unreserved section.  Since we had"t been in awhile I wasn"t sure what shape the rv spots would be in. It turns out they were in good shape ,so if you get there early enough you can get a good spot with electricity/water/sewer.  Not all spots are close to electric drop. I was the second trailer in our little area, by the evening we were almost full.  We didn"t do anything but set up when we got there. I took a little nap. Later we went to Jamie/Belinda and spent the evening , we had a little fire and had supper. It looks like we are going to have great weather.
