April 20, 2022 Canyon Lake Day 4

It started out another overcast day this morning without any rain. WE did have a steady wind blowing around 10-12 mph. Our little day trip today was to Blanco.  We ate breakfast there at one of my favorite little places called The Chess Club. Its a really old house converted into a cafe,  Nothing fancy but they serve good food. After that Susan went to a quilt shop there and I just wondered around the old courthouse. After that we just headed back home. I chilled outside and Susan sewed. After 3:00 new trailers started arriving. We have been empty on our end since Monday. I suspect the park will be full by Friday.

April 19, 2022 Canyon Lake Day 3

It was a tad chilly this morning about 57 degrees. Just right to sit by our fire pit  and enjoy.  The morning started out overcast and then a little sun broke thru. As the day progressed the wind picked up. We made sausage and bisquits for breakfast. After breakfast i did my daily walk, only 2 miles today as I have a sore spot on the bottom of my foot. it would help if I put my hiking shoes on instead of wearing my camp shoes. When I got back we loaded up and went to Wimberley. Susan went to a quilt shop and I went to Brookshire Brothers to pick up a few things. There were lots of people in town and it sure has grown thru the years. We drove the back way home looking at the countryside. We both ate a light lunch and took naps. When we woke up there was a light mist falling and it stayed that way till dark. Susan sewed and I read and we also watched a movie.  We just had leftovers for supper. Just at dusk when I finally saw 4 deer by our camp. This was the first deer we had seen in camp, usually we always see deer here.

April 17,18 2022 Canyon Lake

Sunday morning we headed out for Canyon Lake. We didn"t leave untill about 9:45 because check in time is 3:00 pm at Potters Creek. They are strict about that.  We stopped at Sonic in Liberty an grabbed some drinks and breakfast tacos and off we went. When we got to Giddings I stopped and got gas and walked around some. Our plan was to eat lunch here but neither of us was hungry. Since we didn"t eat we got to the park at 2:35. We pulled to the side to wait for 3:00.  There were five trailers in line when they let us in. We got in our spot and set everything up. The weather was nice about 82 with no humidity.  We just sat outside most of the evening and just chilled.  It was about 60 when I got up Monday morning.  They have a burn ban here so no ground fires. I had our propane firepit and we could use that. It was pretty nice sitting there, Susan slept in till about 8.  We decide that we would just hang in camp today. I cooked us a little breakfast around 10.  After that I took a walk and Susan started sewing.  I planned on doing 3 miles but I wimped out at about 2.5. The uphill part beat me down, I"ll go a different direction tomorrow and go downhill first. I didn"t see any deer or rabbits on my walk.  Later we had to run to a Dollar General as I needed some coffee filters. On the way out we saw two does but then we saw two Axis Bucks.  We have been coming here for year  and I"ve never seen Axis here,  it was after check out time when we got back. All the weekend warriors were gone. We had our end of the park to ourselves.  It will probably stay quiet till about Thursday when more folks will headed in.  We had another really nice evening. I cooked hamburgers for supper.
