July 28 29 Canyon Lake

So far no more electrical issues to wake us up. I still got up about 5 , drank my coffee and played on the computer. Maggie and I went out when daylight started about 6, it was a another pleasant morning. We took a little morning stroll. Susan came out about 7:30. Somewhere around 9 we decided to eat breakfast and head to Camping World. We both need new outside chairs. Its been awhile since we have been to Camping World in New Braunfels and it has changed. They don"t carry as much kitchen and bath and rv gear as they used to. They have added guns and fishing supplies. We were not impressed with the new look. We did find two chairs on sale that were good buys. I wanted a zero gravity chair and they didnt have anything I liked. We decided to head to Cabellas in Buda to look at their outdoor selection. They didn"t have much either, the salesman said they have been sold out as fast as they get chairs in right now. I did find some shirts for me but Susan did"t find anything for her. Our next stop was a quilt shop but Susan did"t find the fabric she was looking for.  I wanted to eat at Garcia"s but it was takeout only so we just got a burger at Sonic before driving the countryside back home. After getting home we both took a nap. That evening we went to the lake and floated for awhile. The water was great. We got out as we could see some showers heading our way. The wind picked up but we only got a very fine mist. I cooked pork chops for supper and we sat out till about 8. Another nice evening. -Wednesday morning was about the same. I had a nice Buck visit for a short while and I saw about 10 more deer. I cooked us some breakfast and we sat out till about 11. It was very nice with low humidity and a little breeze. Susan did some sewing and I did a little reading and napping. Around 4 we had another little wind storm come in, the rain missed us again but it dropped the temperatures from 97 to 87. I grilled chicken for supper and we sat out till about 8.

July 27, 2020 Just Chilled Today at Canyon Lake

I woke up at 4:44 am when the power went off, It flickered a little and then came back on. I wondered was it just our power or the whole park. It stayed on but since I was awake I just got up. I drank coffee and watched a little news till it started getting daylight. Maggie and I headed outside, not much breeze but it was pleasant. The deer came and visited us for a little bit. Susan got up about 7:30 and came out. We had a really nice morning. About 9:00 I cooked a little breakfast but about halfway thru the power went off again, it was just ours as I could hear our neighbors AC running. All the trailer breakers were good and the main breaker was not tripped either. I was on a 30 amp breaker so I got an adapter out and connected to the 50 amp break and we got power again. I finished breakfast and then went to the gate and reported the 30 amp breaker bad.  Later we ran to Ace Hardware in Sattler to pick up a few items we needed. When we got back we both took naps. After that Susan did a little sewing and I did a little reading, we just had a lazy day. That evening I cooked steak and corn on the cob. We had a nice breeze so it was very nice. I was siting looking at the lake and I told Susan to look at the whitecaps forming. I jumped up and put our awning in just in time as 25-30 mph winds came thru. The wind came out of nowhere and people were chasing items across the park. One trailer did get his awning twisted up. After about 10 minutes it settled down. Thats the very reason I never leave my awning out when we are not here.  It got very pleasant again until we had bees visit us. They bothered us so bad we just went in about 8:00.

July 26,2020 Headed to Canyon Lake

Luckily we didn"t get much rain from Hurricane Hanna. Most everything was loaded and ready to go this morning.  We got on the road about 8:30.  We decided to run 290 instead of I-10.  We made one stop in Hempstead for Susan to refresh her drink. Our favorite little cafe in Chappel Hill has closed so we were looking for another place to eat. I picked a little cafe in Giddings callled "Mels Diner". There is room for parking on the street behind the cafe which is the first criteria on picking a place to stop. We had a chicken fried steak and it was pretty good. Easy in and out so this will probably be our new stopping point on travels this way. We ran into road construction on Hwy 21 into San Marcos. It was a rough road in places, may pick another route going home. When we got to Canyon Lake we stopped at Brookshire Brothers and bought a few grocerys. We arrive at Potters Creek at 2:45 pm. Check in time is 3:00 pm and they wouldn"t let anyone check in till 3:00.  There were 3 trailers ahead of us and 2 behind us . They promptly started checking us in at 3.  First time I have ever seen a park do this.  We headed in and started setting up. First thing I noticed was our fridge/freezer doors open up during the trip and dumped a few things on the floor. This gave Susan something to do while I unhooked.  We have a nice site but the drive drops off quickly and the ball didnt want to drop from hitch. I just unpinned the hitch and pulled forward. After getting a few things settled we took a little drive while trailer cooled down. It was 97 inside when we got there. It was about 91 outside but there was a wind blowing and the humidity was low. As long as you were in the shade it was ok.  The park is full capacity for campers but we have pretty big sites so its nice. The water looks wonderful. When we got back the trailer was down to 84.  I started setting up the satellite tv and finally got signal.  We sat outside for happy hour untill about 8:45.  It was very nice with the shade and the breeze. Hope it stays this way.

July 14-19 Peyton and Luke have Arrived

Tuesday I went to Bryan and picked up Peyton and Luke, We got back to camp about 1:00. They played outside untill about 4 and then we went to the lake swimming. Luke wouldnt venture very far from bank. He did get in the float with Susan for a short while.  Peyton played all over. When we got back to camp they played with a sprinkler I set up, We had supper and they played till about 7:30. I gave them showers outside and they went inside to chill for awhile till bedtime.  That night Maggie got sick with diarrhea and it was not a good night. She continued with this for the next few days. When we got home I took her to the vet. She got some medication and finally by saturday she was better. The boys played outside everyday all day long. They met a few other kids to play with. They were wore out at night and went to bed very easy.  We came home on Friday arriving about noon, The boys played outside the rest of the day. They were up early saturday morning , they played out while I mowed the yard. Later that day we went to town and visited great granma for awhile. On Sunday I carried the boys back home.

July 11,12,13 Ratcliff Lake

We left Saturday morning for Ratcliff Lake. We will  be there till next Friday. On Tuesday Im going to get Peyton and Luke. We stopped and ate breakfast on the way at Simply Country in Moss Hill, as usual it was really good. We got to Ratcliff Lake about 12:15.  Our site is in full shade and its a good thing cause it was already 95.  We got everything set up and then ran to Crockett to stock up on grocerys. When we got back we both took naps. We stayed in trailer till late in the evening, I cooked a little supper and we had happy hour. It wasn"t too bad with the big fan going outside.  We had to watch dvd movies as too many trees to get satillite tv.  Sunday morning was a nice morning untill it warmed up about 11:00.  I cooked omelots for breakfast and they were good.  That evening I went swimming in the lake but Susan stayed and sewed. For supper I cooked fajitas. My big fan quit on me and without the wind it was just too hot to sit outside. Monday morning was again a nice morning, We actually had a breeze blowing. After breakfast I went to Crockett to find a big fan but there was none to be had. Maybe when I go get the boys tomorrow I can find one in Bryan.  We had a couple of trailers come in today, now we have a total of 7 campers in the park. About 5 I went swimming and once again Susan stayed home to sew and watch movies.  I had the lake to myself, it was really nice with plenty of shade ans a little breeze blowing.  On the way back I saw a baby deer cross the road.  For supper we just had leftovers.

We have shade all day

July 3-6 July 4 Working at Deer Lease

We spent Saturday and Sunday at the deer lease working . Kevin rented a mini excavator to do a little work.  We carried the tractor up on Friday morning. Saturday I pulled the excavator and Kevin  pulled the Ranger and 4-wheeler up there.  Kyle and the boys also came up on Saturday.  Kevin dug up 9-10 stumps in our new camping area. Then he tore two rv trailers down to the frame. We plan to use the frames to build little cabins on. Peyton and Luke loved the excavator. They really liked watching the trailers tore down. It was a very hot day.  Sunday Kevin and I worked on the creek crossing. We put some grating we had from another crossing down and then he widened the trail. John/Jen and the kids came up also. They took the kids to the creek swimming. It was another hot day.  We just about have the new camp area cleaned up.
