March 21-- Ready to move back in

We are almost complete with the remodeling. Friday the granite guy will come back to do some touch-up and polishing and he will be finished. Our general contractor finished up Thursday evening. The people doing the back splash will be here the first week of April to install and that's it folks. Our living room furniture is due to be delivered Monday. I moved the trailer back to its resting spot yesterday, no more hopping between it and the house.  Now all we have to do is clean up the house and start moving all our stuff back in. It hasn"t been to bad but I am glad its over. We have a little more than a month to get everything settled before we head out on our first trip of the year to Tennessee..  On a side note since we are not going to be gone all summer I decided to put a little garden in this year. I got it all disked up and a few tomato's and peppers planted.   Think I will just plant a little squash and hope we don"t have a drought again like the last time I planted a garden.

March 13--Spring Break at Riverside

We picked the grand kids up Tuesday evening and brought them home with us.They were excited to see the house but were wondering where they would sleep. The daybed/trundle bed in Susan's sewing room worked great. It was a rough night as Ashley threw up about 3:15 and after changing bed sheets again at 4:00 am.   They all settled down and went back to sleep. We left for Riverside about 10:30 and got about two miles down the road and Ashley erupted again. Whew, lucky we were close to the house.. After getting  everything cleaned back up we were on the road again.  It was a beautiful day at the lake . We kept Ashley on a bland diet the rest of the day and she did fine.  Ewan {James and Joans son } came down from Austin to spend the week. He and Kenna went fishing in the pontoon boat. They caught a lot of white bass about 1" shorter than the legal limit. We all had a good evening and it was nice to get away. Our house is almost complete on the remodeling. Next week should be finished. Our appliances are delivered and the fridge is hooked up. Nice to have ice and cold water in the kitchen again.Everything else will be hooked up next Monday.  The end is in sight and we will start to move back in slowly.

March 9--Almost Spring Break

The picture color is off--not yellow in real life????
Things seem to be moving slower but finishing work just takes longer. The granite is in  and so is the floor trim. I got the washer and dryer back in the utility room. Sure is nice to be able to do clothes again at home. One funny thing happened when I went to hook up the washer. No place to put the drain hose. It was sheetrocked over and painted. Been walking by that for days and never noticed. At least it was an easy fix.I was able to move the tv from my study back into the living room , which is finished except for a little touch up work. We are not going to move our new furniture in untill everything is complete. Our appliances are supposed to be delivered Monday and it will be nice to have a fridge, stove, microwave, sink, dishwasher again.Painting ,trim and puttiing on all the hardware on cabinets is about all that is left. We are going to leave Wednesday to go to Riverside with the grand kids for a few days. Hope the weather will be nice. I also started putting in my garden this week. I put out some tomato plants and peppers hoping that we will not have another frost. Also Kyle called and said the baby will be a boy and his name will be James Payton Taylor. Due in July. Kristin sent the sonogram pictures but I have not downloaded them from my phone yet.

March 5 -- Getting Closer

We got back from Canton late Monday evening. It was a nice five days. There was a lot done on the house while we were gone and its beginning to look like a house again. The tile guys had started on the floor. The cabinets ins the utility room were in . Both back doors had been replace. The bi-fold doors and hidden ironing board had been installed in Susan's sewing room. The new attic stairs had been put in. We have cold water in the house but no hot water till the plumber ties in the gas line to the water heater. The front bedroom is complete. The granite guy will be installing granite Thursday and Friday. Cabinets are being primed and the living room is being finished painting. We could be finished in about two more weeks. On another note since we will be home for part of the summer I started discing up my garden getting ready to plant soon. I also had to disc up part of the pasture I rutted up when it was so wet making a burn pile in back. Susan went yesterday to babysit the grand kids last night and will be back home today. No heat in the house right now as the gas is still blocked and it was a little cool. I could have slept in the trailer but I sure like being in a king bed instead of a queen. Anyway enough rambling.
This room complete

Need some granite and a few more things

Canton -Its been cool

Its been cool here in Canton this week. If not for the wind the weather would have been perfect. It sure didn't stop the crowds. Saturday was pretty crowded , people everywhere. Susan did find some hardware for her cabinets and I bought a wallet for me. A lot of us brave souls  went to a wine bar after supper on Friday night. It was karaoke night and yep I dazzled the crowd , sure made some of the other folks sound real good.We all survived and had a good time. I have been waiting all week for my propane tank to run out and of course it did during the night at 1:30 in the morning.Oh well got all the goody out of it before I switched to the other tank. Lots of folks will leave today but we plan to stay till Monday. Sunday turned out to be a beautiful day. Not as crowded as the last three days. We sure had fun. I lost my wallet. i got on the Internet and started canceling cards. Susan went to the main office to see if anyone had found it. They hadn't yet but the lady got on the radio and just so happens a lady had found it and turned it in to a police officer. Wow got it back with what little cash I had in it still there. Later that evening we all went to a little Mexican food restaurant and then back to the trailers.  We leave for home tomorrow.  Its been a great week..

Canton Tx March 1

It has been sunny here in Canton but with the wind, pretty chilly. We moved our annual trip back a month to get a little warmer weather. We got here on Wednesday as did Mike/Lavonna, Kenneth/Barbra and Jimmy/Vicky. Everyone else came in on Thursday. It was a nice day yesterday on the hill walking around. I havent bought anything yet. Most of the girls were gone all day. We built a nice fire last night and had a good supper. It sure does feel good to get away for a few days from home. We will head back home Monday.
