May 29-20 New Orleans Volleyball Tournament

We left early for the tournament this morning. Traffic was light going in so it was only about 30 minutes. We found a small lot right across the street from the entrance. They were able to get me backed in to a parking spot.  The courts were spaced apart very well.  The tournament was still limited due to covid but no restrictions .  It made it nice for us spectators because it was not crowded.  The convention center is huge. Its about a mile wide. I was able to get my walking in with no problem. Saturday we watched Mackenna 3 times and Ashley twice.  We missed Ashley"s last game as we were tired and ready to go home. Mackenna"s team advanced to the Gold but Ashleys team did not. We got home and just ate left overs for supper and went to bed. Sunday morning the games didn"t start till 9:00 am.  Mackenna"s team lost their first game so that knocked them out of the bracket. They won there second game. It was a bittersweet moment for Mackenna as it was her last club volleyball game, Very emotional for her, She had a great tournament though.  Ashley"s team won both of their games and Ash played well also.  We got out of there about 4:30 pm.  We were tired when we got home. I just cooked hot dogs for supper and then we relaxed outside for a little happy hour. The weather Saturday and Sunday has been gorgeous, Lows in the sixties and highs about 80 with low humidity.  Club season is over so we have a volley ball break till school starts up. Tomorrow is just going to be a relaxing recuperating for us. We have had a good time but I hope this is the last time I ever come to New Orleans.

May 28, 2021 A Lazy Day

Happy hour

never seen trash cans built this way

We were in no hurry today. Susan forgot her thread
for her sewing machine so we had to go to Hobby Lobby . We made a dry run to the Convention Center on the way to check out the parking . Im not a fan of driving in New Orleans , of course I don"t like any big citys. We came back to camp and just chilled the rest of the day.  I cooked hamburgers for supper.  First volleyball game starts at 9:00 in the morning and the last one starts at 7:30 pm. I probably won"t last all day.....This post is formatted wierd because I was having some kind of computer problems.

May 27 Headed to New Orleans

We pulled out Thursday morning and headed to just south of New Orleans. St Bernard State Park is our destination.  I-10 from Winnie to Baton Rouge was rough and had lots of construction. We stopped just before Lafayette for lunch. We had a hard time finding a place where we could park and then a hard time finding a place we could get into for gas with the trailer. The traffic across the Mississippi river in Baton Rouge was terrible. We finally made it to the park about 2:00 pm.  It is a small park but very nice, about 19 miles from the French Quarter.  The roads are narrow as are the site pads. Takes some moves to get a long trailer backed in.  We got set up and just chilled. For supper we went to a small seafood place called Cassanovas.  It actually was a little takeout and market. They did have two tables so we just ate there. It was very good but we were overdressed for the place.

April 27-May 26 Home all Month and Rain

We have been home all month. We are going to New Orleans for six days starting May 27. Both Mackenna and Ashley"s volleyball teams are playing in the Super Regionals there on Saturday and Sunday. We just thought a small trip would be nice before we leave at the end of June. Not really a lot going on. Susan had Dr appointments and they were all good.  I have started walking every day doing 2-3 miles. I"m off my blood pressure medications and my cardiologist thinks that if I exercise and keep my weight down I could possibly stay off.  It seems to be doing pretty good so far. I walk at the Liberty City Park and sometimes at Lake Charlotte.  The last week or so I have been walking in Liberty with an old school friend. I just happened to see him waking one day near Moms house. I stopped and talked to him a little while and he walks every day so I have joined him.  On another note I got all my yard mowed about six days ago. It started raining the next day and has not quit.  Not terrible but about 10 inches so far.  I know that It will not dry out enough to mow before we leave for New Orleans so the grass will be high when I get back. Last Saturday i met Kyle at the deer lease. Peyton came with him and we piddled around all day but it was really  wet. We are almost finished with the bath house. The septic tank is in so we just need to set the toilet and then put in a shower head and we are in business.  On Monday Susan had a bunch of sewing friends over and they did projects all day.  Tuesday I moved the trailer up to the house to load up as we are getting ready to leave.  We are in a 24hr drought as it did not rain yesterday.  Wish it was dry enough to mow the yard before we leave but not going to happen.
