4/23/2019 Dequeen Lake,Arkansas

Monday we spent the day just picking up and packing everything so we could leave first thing the next morning. Our original plans were to go to Daingerfield State Park for about 3 days and then head home. We changed to going to Dequeen Lake, rest a day, and then head home. We pulled out about 8 on Wednesday morning and headed out. We had a little light drizzle for the first hour and then it quit. The drive between Fayettville and Fort Smith is sure pretty. Lots of hills and hollers. We had a nice easy drive stopping once to get fuel and a bite to eat. We arrived at Dequeen lake at about 1:15.  Five to six hours is about as long a I want to drive anymore. We will rest up tomorrow and then head home Thursday morning. We have stayed here several times over the years. The lake is pretty high right now and not as clear as usual.  We had a really nice evening and I cooked pork chops on the grill.

4/21/2019 A Beautiful Easter Day

Another chilly morning and then a nice warmup the rest of the day. Plenty of sunshine and clear blue skies on this Easter Sunday. We stayed in camp all day and just enjoyed the weather. By 2:00 the campground was down to about 7 campers total. For supper I fried up backstrap and it sure was tasty.  Mackenna"s volleyball team played in Dallas this weekend, We sure hated not being there but they placed 5th in the Gold Bracket. There was probably close to 150 teams there. Mackenna was injured the first day when she rolled her ankle. Its pretty swollen so she may be out for awhile . Tomorrow we will start packing up getting ready to head back to Texas. We will be leaving here Tuesday morning..

4/20/2019 A Little Shopping Today

When I got up this morning it was pretty chilly around 42 but the wind wasn't blowing. As the sun came up it warmed up and became a really nice day. We had a nice little morning fire and I cooked breakfast outside.  Later we headed out. Susan went to one quilt shop and another shop which had all kinds of stuff but also a room full of fabric. She found some for a quilt she is making. There were lots of folks in town today. We drove up to Holiday Island and went to one store. We had planned on a late lunch there, well lunch was late as there was nothing open to eat at. We headed back to the trailer and just chilled the rest of the day.

4/20/2019 A Very Windy Day

We had a nice sunrise with clear skies. It was cold but the big thing was the wind. it blew 20-25 mph all day long. I had to put our hot water heater on electric mode because the wind was just right to blow the flame out. There was no sitting outside as the high only made 60. We took a little drive thru the country. First we went down by the dam and looked around. Then we went to a little winery in Beaver (pop 100) called The Railway. It was a nice little place , his wines were mostly semi-sweet to sweet.  He did have a good red muscadine which I really liked. When we left there we headed into Eureka Springs. We had a surprisingly good Mexican food lunch at La Familia. We had thought about getting tickets to the Passion Play but because of the wind and cold we decided to go to the Ozark Mountain Hoe Down instead. We headed home and took a little nap.  The park was starting to fill up with trailers as everyone was getting ready for the weekend. That evening we went to the Hoe Down. We usually go once every time we are in the area.. They have a new cast and it was very good, gospel and country music. When we got out to come home that night the wind had finally died down.

4/19/2019 A Wet Dreary Cold Day

We got some rain and wind last night, it wasn't bad as we missed all of the really bad weather. The wind and light drizzle continued most of the day. The temperature fell to about 49 degrees about 10:00 am. We pretty much stayed inside and watched the libertards cry and whine and try to change the narrative of the Mueller report. I put a pot of chili on for supper. Susan did start feeling better and did some sewing.  Lots of trailers came in setting up for the weekend. The weather will be getting sunny by tomorrow but still pretty cool.

4/18/2019 Mercy Care

Last night Susan thought she might be coming down with a bladder infection. We looked around on the Internet to see what was available. There was nothing close that was still open. This morning she called her home doctor to see if he would call in an antibiotic. He said  she needed to go somewhere so they could do a urine sample .  We went into Eureka Springs to Mercy Care. They were really nice folks. The desk lady put all her info into the computer and then the PA came and got her. She got her prescription and we were on our way. They said they would bill us after the insurance paid,  Since Susan wasn't feeling well we just went to the grocery store and headed back home.,  Susan just rested and took a nap. I just piddled around outside. I put up most of our chairs and tables as we were supposed to get rain and wind late tonight. There were several trailers that came in and I expect this park fill be full for the weekend.  I built a little fire to sit by and cooked an early supper as it did look like rain all around. It looks like the really bad weather will stay south of us.
Always fun to have to go to the doctor on the road

4/16/2019 Another Nice Day

It was a lot warmer this morning when I got up about 60 degrees. The wind was blowing so it felt pretty cool as Maggie and I took our morning stroll around the island. Their were a couple of boats fishing this morning in the protected coves. They are doing a lot of remodeling on some of the waterfront sites where we have stayed before. The lower road and sites are gone but they are building some nice elevated fortified sites, some are pull-thru and a few are back-in. When finished these will be very nice and not subject to the flooding issues of the past. I built a little fire and one of my neighbors from Oklahoma joined me for awhile. They and their friends are leaving today so we will have the top of the island to ourselves. Susan forgot her rotary cutters so we drove to Rodgers where they have a Hobby Lobby to get one. With all the redbuds and dogwoods blooming the country side drives are very pretty. On the way back we stopped in Garfield.  The Bus Stop was a place I used to get ice cream at but it is closed down now. Across the street , The Short Stop, has remodeled and enlarged to accommodate the new influx of folks. They did keep the tradition of giant ice cream cones. Of course I got one which was a small but its huge, Susan got a baby cone which in reality was enough for the both of us. I ate mine and finished hers. When we got back to camp we both took naps. Later Susan did some sewing and Maggie and I piddled around outside. We had an evening fire and retired for the night.

4/15/2019 A great day of doing nothing

We had a really nice peaceful day today. The wind layed around daybreak and I built a little fire. We sat around the fire for about two hours. One of our only 2 neighbors stopped by and visited. They are from Tulsa OK. They have just started camping and trying to figure things out. I cooked us a nice breakfast and then the wind started picking up a little bit. The temperature was warming up  pretty nice as the day wore on.  Susan got her sewing stuff finally arranged and went to work. Her allergies are still giving her problems but not as bad today. Maggie and I walked the little island, there are only 4 trailers here right now. Its nice and quiet during the week. The water is beautiful and so clear, but way to cold to get in.  Evening time the wind was blowing pretty good. I set up our propane fire pit up and we used it to watch the sun go down. We went back in and watched a little tv for the rest of the night.
