Sept 17=20 Okay We Are Heading Home

Sunday morning was another nice morning at about 54 degrees.  Cooper and I had a little fire and watched the sunrise.  Susan had another rough night and stayed in bed or in recliner most of the day. We finally decide that it was just best to cut our trip short and head home.  Around 4 I ran into Heber Springs to fill up truck and pick up a pizza. When I got back the campground was just about empty. Sure was nice and quiet. Susan was able to sit outside a little bit that evening. I loaded all my outside stuff into the back of the truck getting ready to roll in the morning. Monday morning was another really nice morning. I hated to leave such nice weather and go back to Texas. We pulled out about 8. We had an easy drive with mostly good roads. We stopped at Lake Wright Patnum just south of Texarkana for the night. I did"t even unhook the truck, just put the jacks down. Rocky Point is a nice campground which we have stayed at before. Tuesday morning we left about 8:30 and tolled toward home. After getting home I unhooked trailer and unloaded just what Susan needed. Although the weather was much better than when we left I still sweated for the first time in three weeks. We got an appointment for Susan to see a physical therapist for evaluation on Wednesday. We saw him and he thinks she needs to see an orthopedic doctor.  I was able to get an appointment at Texas Orthopedics Monday at 2:00.  We will see what they say.

Sept 15,16 2023 Greers Ferry Lake, Heber Springs

Friday was a nice morning. We left Ozark around noon headed to Old Highway 25 Park on Greers Ferry Lake. Its just slightly north of Heber Springs.  It was a easy drive of about 3 hours.  When we checked in and got to our loop I stopped and did not enter. My site was at the end and had a pretty good slope down. I walked it out and decided  I couldn"t make the loop. (dont know why my typing changed).  I wasn"t sure I would even fit in the site. There were two guys who said they would help as I backed the trailer all the way in.  It really wasn"t hard but I barely fit. My back end was hanging over the pad and we couldn"t really use the back door.  The angle was so bad I couldn"t get the ball off the hitch. I finally pulled the pin on the hitch and just pulled up and let the sleeve pull out from the receiver.  I certainly didn"t have enough pads to set the rear jacks. Luckily someone had left some pine blocks and I used the to set the back up.  After getting everything set up we decided it was worth it. We are on a point with gorgeous views. (pictures do  not do it justice) and a huge site. The lake is really low but still nice and cold clear water.  That evening we had steaks for supper and a well earned Happy Hour.  Again ,on our travel day Susan did really well with her back pain. It was nice and cool Saturday morning around 52 degrees when Cooper and I took our early morning walk. I had to put the furnace on to warm up the trailer. We fired up out fire pit and watched the sun come up.  Around 10 we went into Heber Springs to pick up a few items and to fill up my propane tank for the fire pit. There was a little seafood market that I saw so I stopped on the way back and checked it out. He had a good selection but is was a little pricey , but being so far from the gulf I suspect shipping was expensive. I got a quart of his seafood gumbo and it was pretty good. Susans back pain got worse and she did not have a good evening. Hoping tomorrow will be better.

I was glad someone left these pine blocks

The slope is more than it looks.

Had to back in  all the way down this road.

It took all my cable to get Susan tv.  175 ft

Sept 12-14 2023 Ozark,Arkansas

Tuesday we decided to go on to Ozark. There was no hurry as its about 2 1/2 hours away. Check-in time is 4:00 at Au Arc park on the Arkansas river. We left about noon and it was a nice easy drive. We got set up and just chilled that evening. Susan had a good day and wasn"t  hurting too bad. Wednesday morning she didn"t feel great but we did go to one winery.  Weiderkehr winery is my favorite and we bought two cases of wine. When we got back Susan took a nap and Cooper and I piddled outside. The weather has been great. Thursday Susan was hurting again so we didn"t go anywhere. Cooper and I did some running around and just sat out most of the evening.  We plan on going to Greers Ferry Lake tomorrow,

Sept 10-11 Laundry Day and just Chilling

Sunday was our laundry day. We went to Pea Ridge which is about 25 minutes away. Luckily we were able to get six washers at one time to do all our clothes. We come here because its a nicer place than the one in Eureka Springs. We headed back to the trailer after that. I had put a pot of beans on for supper. it was another beautiful day. We didn"t go anywhere Monday as Susan had some set back on her back pain. I guess its going to ba a touch and go thing. We are supposed to leave Tuesday for Ozark.  We still haven"t decided to continue or our head home.

Sept 8-9 Really Gorgeous Weather

We got a little more rain during the night, but when I got up Friday morning it was clearing out with just a drizzle and wind.  By 7:30 the sun was out and the skies were clear. We stayed in camp all day letting Susan continue to recover from her back pain. Its a slow go but she is improving.  The weather was perfect and we could leave the windows open in the trailer and it was nice. That evening I cooked some chicken and pork fajitas. Being it was Friday evening the campground became full again. There was a lot of tenters here for the weekend.  Saturday was another great day. We went to a little winery and did some wine tasting and bought a few bottles. We stopped again in Garfield where we had burgers and ice cream again. When we got home I watched the Texas/Alabama game.

Sept 6-7, 2023 Slowly Feeling Better

Wednesday was a little better day for Susan. She was able to get a fair nights sleep. She was able to sit outside for a little while and enjoy the nice weather. While she was resting and napping Cooper and I took a little truck ride. We went below the dam to check out the river. The lake is the lowest we have ever seen it, they were not letting any water out the gates so there was just minimum flow. We came back and just chilled the rest of the evening. Thursday morning it was pretty chilly about 58 degrees. I had my firepit going. Susan was able to come out and sit by the fire.  Since she was feeling a little better we went to Garfield and got a burger and then ice cream. They have huge serving cones so since I was pretty full I got a small one. We stopped at a DG on the way back and picked up a few odds and ends. It was a beautiful day. Susan was able to come out for Happy Hour.  If she continues to improve we will continue our trip.
