12/15/2022 Cooper- A New Family Member

Our former Miniature Dachsund passed away last April. Maggie was 18 years and 5 months old.  I wasn"t sure if we were going to get another dog our not.  Around July I started looking at dogs. I really wanted a big dog but since we still travel I decided to go with a small dog again.  I didn"t tell Susan untill right before I finally found what I was looking for.  I was shocked at the prices of dogs.  I finally found  someone who wasnt a breeder but had puppies for sale that I was interested in.  We drove up to Colmesneil to look at him  and check out his parents. We had seen pictures and were pretty sure we wanted the puppy.  It was a done deal after meeting him.  We headed home with him and he mostly stayed in Susans lap,  I brought him a chew toy and rawhide strips to keep him occupied.  They had named him Peetie but we renamed him Cooper about half way home.  He was born on 9/14/22.   I loved his coloring because it is a little unusual.  His parents were about 14-15 lbs so I expect him to be close to that.  He has lots of energy but likes to stay and nap beside someone. Cooper is not fully housebroke and I suspect it will take a little time as dachsunds are notoriously hard headed.

September 14,15 Lake Waco

It was another nice morning on Wednesday. Today was pretty much a chill day as we didn"t go anywhere. It was nice to sit out and just visit all day with a few naps thrown in.  Thursday morning I woke up to 60 degrees. I sat around the fire really enjoying the early morning. Susan came out abut 7:30 and we ate breakfast around 9:00.  Later Belinda and Susan made a quick trip back to a quilt shop. We had our last supper here down at Jamie/Belindas site. Tomorrow we head home. The park has been filling up today everyone getting ready for the weekend.

Sept 11-13 Airport Park on Lake Waco

It has finally cooled down some from a hot dry summer. Due to very high gas prices we did not travel anywhere this summer.    We finally got some rain at the end of August and we are now out of drought conditions. It has cooled off a little so we planned this trip with Jamie/Belinda Purvis to Waco. Susan and I left Sunday morning around 9:30 am.  No hurry because checkin time at the park is 3:00.  We made our first stop at Sonic in Liberty and then eased along.  For lunch we stopped at Woody"s Smokehouse in Centerville.  Its pretty good and they have great parking for rv"s.  We then filled our truck up and continued on. We got to the park about 2:30.  The weather was actually pretty nice, about 88 and low humidity.  Jamie/Belinda got here about 3:00.  We didn"t do anything that evening but sit around and visited. The lake is really low.  For supper we had BBQ from Woody's.  We had a pretty early night as I was tired.                   Monday morning it was really nice at about 65 degrees with a slight breeze. I started my little propane fire pit and enjoyed the morning. After Susan got up I cooked a little breakfast.  We hung in camp all day and didn't go anywhere. We did go swimming and the water was nice.  That evening Belinda cooked hamburgers and fries and we sat out til dark thirty.   Wednesday was another nice morning to be outside. Around 9:30 am we left to go visit the Homestead Heritage Village. They have folks doing wood work, pottery, blacksmiths and looms. It also has a gristmill and of course a quiltshop.  They also have a cafe which we ate at, they serve breakfast and lunch.  I didn"t get many pictures because I left my phone back at the trailer.  For supper we had tacos and another nice night,

June 2 2022 Lake Lewisville

We had a pretty good storm last night and it was still drizzling when I got up. It was a cool 64 degrees. There wasn't much wind blowing so I put out the awning and sat outside drinking my coffee .  I was able to get a short walk in before breakfast.  Susan did some sewing and I piddled around outside mostly reading. The weather was so nice as it cleared up.  After my nap I went and filled up my truck as we are headed home tomorrow, that set me back some. Around 3 we headed to Richard/Cheryls to visit one last time. We had a good time. We got home around 8:30 pm. Going to try and get an early start tomorrow.

June 1 2022 Lake Lewisville

Watching deer feed from my recliner inside

I got a really good nights sleep and didn't wake up till about 5:30. We didn't have any wind blowing this morning and it was a little more humid but still pleasant . I took a walk around the campground loops but again not many folks stirring. I saw quite a few animals moving around.  After Susan got up we sat out for awhile and I cooked breakfast.  She did a little sewing and later I took a nap outside in my chair. Around 2 we headed over to Richards. For supper we went to Pappadeaux's for supper. It was a nice evening.  When we got home there had been a pretty good storm there. For some reason we couldn't get our satellite to work, I couldn't figure it out so we streamed tv thru our hotspot on our phone. In the morning I will work on that issue.

May 31 Lake Lewisville

I didn"t sleep well and got up about 5. It was pretty nice outside with the wind blowing and not much humidity.  I took a a walk early around the campground. Not much stirring except two little cottontails. Susan got up about 8 and we just sat out for the morning. I cooked breakfast around 9.  Later Susan took another nap and I took another stroll. We then cleaned up and headed to her brothers in Frisco. Susan and Cheryl went shopping and Richard and I stayed home. Richard cooked us a great supper that evening and we just visited. Of course Gracie, their dog, was just happy to have visitors for the evening.

May 21-30 Mackenna"s Graduation Week and Lake Lewisville

This was a hectic week for old folks. We started on Saturday with Mackenna"s party with just her friends. There were a lot of kids there. Mike and Kristi with one of their friends cooked a ton of food. It was a truly hot humid day. Us old folks stayed inside in the ac. The kids had a lot of fun as heat not a factor to them. On Sunday I moved the trailer up by the house so we could start loading it for our trip to Lake Lewisville Monday was our anniversary and we went to the Monument Inn for supper. As usual the food was very good. Thursday we went to MD Anderson for Susans annual check up and all was good. On Friday we went to the airport and picked Adam up. He flew in from Colorado. Saturday we went to NRG for Mackennas graduation. Getting in and out of the stadium was terrible but the actual graduation went well. The graduating class was about  620 kids. Mackenna was in the top ten percent. After that we went back to Mike/Kristi house for burgers and visited. It was a late night for me. On Sunday we went back for another party for mostly family and friends. We had a fun time but left early as I was wore out and we were leaving the next morning.  I went to bed about 7:30 and slept hard. Monday morning I finished loading the last minute stuff and hooked up and got on the road about 9:00 am.  We stopped in Centerville for lunch at Woodys Smokehouse and then stopped one more time for gas. I took the loop around Dallas because last year it was rough going straight thru downtown. We got to the park about 3;15 and got set up. We have a nice shady site.  About 4:30 we headed to Frisco to visit Susans brother. They took and us to eat a hamburger at Jerry Jones world.  The Wahl brothers own the little place we ate at. We then walked around and looked at the Cowboys facilities there. Nothing but first class. Ole Jerry has a little money.  We headed back to the house and visited the rest of the evening.
