March 28,2016 Looking at the Past in Monticello

It was a pretty chilly morning when we got up, The temperature was about 45. We  didn't get in a hurry. We headed in to Monticello and worked at Moms memories to find places where she lived as a child and the landmarks which were still there. My only memories were of my Great Aunt Effie"s in town and then my Great Uncle Mood"s house in the country. Lots of things had changed and we did a lot of driving around. The schools Mom had gone to were completely gone, We did find one of the houses she lived in as a child. We finally found Aunt Effie"s house . It was lunch time by then and we ate at Rays BBq. After lunch we headed out and found Uncle Moods house. Then we headed to a cemetery looking for my great grand father and great grand mothers grave. The first one we went to we were looking around and couldn't find them. A lady pulled up to visit some of her relatives. She said she didn't think there were any Knoblochs buried there, but it just so happened her cousin was married to a Buddy Knobloch which is Moms cousin.  Small world.  At the next cemetery we found our relatives. We headed back to  camp after a pretty successful day. The weather was great and we spent the evening outside.
Great morning at Cane Lake

House Mom lived in in the 1940"s

This was my Great Aunt Effie"s house.

This was my Great Uncle Mood"s house. It was 8 miles down a red dirt road when I was a kid. Nice blacktop road now.

Mom found her grandmothers grave.

Back in camp relaxing
