It was just another nice morning here in Meeker. We did a little work in the trailer early morning. Making the bed is a chore. I get out of breath just getting the fitted sheets on. Susan worked on a cover she had bought for the couch. She sewed Velcro on the back of the cover and then put the sticky pieces on the couch so it would hold in place. I decided to make my roux for gumbo. Adam wanted the to makes some this week as no one up here eats that. I decided to make the roux today and make gumbo tomorrow. I have a hard time standing in one place anymore cause my back starts aching. It usually takes about 45 minutes to get the roux like I like it. I was just getting to the last part where you have to be careful not to burn it when the doorbell rang. I got Susan to take over the stirring as I went to the door. It was Adams next door neighbor, I said come on in and he said no, you need to come outside. As I went outside I could see lights flashing by my truck. It was a police truck and an ambulance. He then said a kid had run into my truck on a bike and the police wanted me to see if the truck had any damage. They had the boy already strapped on a gurney when I got there. I knew he couldn't have done much damage to my truck. There were 3 boys riding and the brother of the injured boy said his brother was weaving in and out and his brakes failed and he crashed. You couldn't tell where he hit my truck but if he fell into my back hitch I know it hurt for sure. After they left I went back inside and Susan was still stirring and doing a good job. She was really wondering what had happened. She had been felling a little fatigued anyway so she went to bed for awhile. She thinks its altitude sickness but O don't know. Later after she got up we went and got our ice cream for the day, I figured that had to help. That evening Katie and her youngest son Preston (14) came over and we sat outside and visited. It was a nice evening.
