july 4 201 Happy Independence Day

It was a little warmer when I got up this morning, about 50 degrees. I made a nice fire and took Maggie for a walk. After breakfast we had talked about going on a hike somewhere. A couple of our neighbors came by and we visited for a while. When they left we loaded up and went up the mountain to Fish Creek Trailhead. It was a nice drive thru a ranch before you get to the hiking area. We picked this one as it was mostly level. We didn’t last long at this altitude but it was fun anyway. When we got back we ran into town to check our messages and use the Wi-Fi. We ate lunch in town.As we were going in to the restaurant there was several law enforcement, fire and rescue, and then three ambulances that passed us headed up the road. While we were eating one of the ladies who worked there called dispatch to find out what was happening. There had been a one car rollover just past our turnoff. Of course anywhere you leave that road you are going to roll over. We headed back and it started to rain. Being it’s the 4th it is probably good with all the fireworks so the fire danger is lower. We talked about going up to Telluride to watch the fireworks but decided we didn’t want to be on the road after dark with all the crazy people. We spent the rest of the evening in camp.
