June 17,2015 Blue Lake and Bear Lake
Today we decided to drive up the mountain above Cuchara to look at some high altitude campgrounds. The road ran along the Cucharas river. It was a pretty good road (although there was some washboarding) with several switchbacks. A very pretty drive. The first campground was Blue Lake.Its about 10,400 ft here.There were only a few sites we could fit in. We stopped and talked to the camp host who was an interesting character. We then went on up to Bear Lake. We found several sites we like. We hiked to the lake which was gorgeous. We would like to come stay here sometime. We went back down the mountain to Cuchara and ate a late lunch at the Little Dog Bar. A neat little place and your dogs are welcome. Got back to camp and chilled.
