About Me

My photo
Susan retired from education in May 2011 and I retired in December 2011 . We are not full timers but do travel a lot. We enjoy traveling around the country. There are many beautiful places in the USA and we are going to try and see all of them while we can.

Aug 2-3-4 Two Harbors

On the 2, we didn"t do a whole lot. It was a nice morning weather wise. We drove up the coast just looking around. Susan did find a quilt shop to go to and it was even for sale. Luckily she didn't really want to buy it . We came back home and I took a nap. Susan ran back to town to get a few things for supper and make a hair appointment. Later that evening we met our neighbors across from us. Lo and behold the lady was a quilter. She even has more sewing machines than Susan. They both have the same Husquvarna embroidery machine and also the same Singer featherweights. They drive a 43 foot motor home pulling an enclosed car hauler for his Mercedes.   Another neighbor I met whose name just happens to be Mike is a retired Exxon guy from Baton Rouge. They summer here every year. We have met a number of people who stay the summer somewhere in the north at one place. For sure it is a cheaper way to go but there are so many places I want to see. I think next summer we are going to stay in places longer and not travel so many miles.
Our campsite
On the 3 we drove up to Hoyt Lakes just to look   around. It was again another pretty drive. We also hit road construction again. We didnt have to detour but did wait for awhile to get thru. Summer time is when they do most of the road repairs here. We found a really nice campground at Hoyt Lakes. Decided to move up here when we leave Hungry Jack. As we have seen, getting a place on the weekend without prior reservations is pretty tough. Looks like we may have to stay in a national forest campground for one night.  We found a couple of places on small lakes that will fit our trailer. The only thing is they have no hook ups. Really shouldnt be a problem cause the weather is so nice. We sat out awhile when we got home and then went in and watched the Olympics.

Don"t see much of this in Texas
On the 4 we got up early to go do laundry. Susan dropped me off and she went to get her hair trimmed. After that we went home and relaxed there the rest of the day.
